So. With the revelation re: Dalinar and the duel to come in RoW I can’t help but. Revisit the back jacket of tWoK. “There are four whom we watch: *describes Kal, Szeth, Shallan, and Dalinar*. One may redeem us. One will destroy us.” Not quoted verbatim but that’s the gist. Like......HI OKAY.
sorry this is so late i wanted to go through all the jacket descriptions and look through them and. boy. ok so in general im obsessed with the progression of titles everyone gets:
kaladin is the surgeon -> -> windrunner -> the captain -> the fallen soldier
shallan is the liar -> the lightweaver -> the spy -> the one who is three
dalinar is the highprince -> the bondsmith -> the king
szeth is the assassin (twice) -> the stonewalker
you could make a fire faux tarot deck with these. anyway i feel like what defines them each book continues to massively complicate their role in the story. besides kaladin. can’t believe the row book jacket was just like yeah he’s got depression and left it at that.
but ur original ask: i think dalinar is a massive candidate for destruction, knowing what we know i think we can safely rule out shallan or kaladin for that role (unless something WILD happens next book). but that being said......szeth is really interesting huh......honestly i’d think it would be wild if he gets the redeeming role we all assumed would be kal’s but kowt IS gonna be szeth’s book. just saying, if he and kaladin are on their doing good roadtrip and end up saving the world from a bad dalinar deal. thats rough but plausible.
