it's graphic but not very long, you see the bad parts for maybe 20 seconds? There are precise time stamps for it online if you want to see the movie despite of it. and more detailed descriptions if you need to know what it is exactly... obv. up to you still!
Between the anticipation of it coming and the fact I can’t be sure to block out all sound - plus the fact people in cinema will probably laugh and/or comment loudly - it’s not a good idea for someone like me. Animal cruelty is a hard trigger due to childhood experiences, and being badly triggered can throw me into a shaky dissociative state that would probably mean I’d have to skip the rest of the movie or have proper experience of it even if I stayed. I’m so annoyed, I’ve spent months looking forward to seeing it!

There's a three minute period I have literally refused to watch bc of this lol. You can avoid it if you know what to look for. I would say stop watching after the old man falls asleep in the bathroom right as the fishman gets out of the tub and resume after Elisa gets to the movie theatre
Thanks for the detailed description! Once it’s on streaming services and I can safely fast-forward in the privacy of my own home (and deal with panic if it’s not enough) I might just do that. Del Toro’s movies are always wonderful, now if only he’d drop this trope - I had to nope out of Trollhunters for repeated mentions of it, even though no actual harm was shown.
flightofthedragon replied to your post: Quick Review
I agree so much, everything just felt like a lesser version of the previous games… And when they killed Daud off screen (after making us witness his character assassination) I had to just pause the game for a while because it felt like a slap in the face. Lazy story telling and a waste of a fan favourite…
Yeah like. No matter what someone feels about Daud, I think we can all agree it should’ve been done better.
1, 5 and 17 for the DA4 aks list!
Thanks for the ask, @flightofthedragon :)
1. What are you looking forward to the most?
NEW PLACES. I’d love to see Tevinter, Nevarra, Antiva and Rivain, not to mention the Anderfels! Given that Weisshaupt went silent, and that the end of Trespasser seemed to indicate a a location in Tevinter, I’m hoping we’ll get to explore those two areas.
5. Who would you want to be the returning companion?
Oooh, this is a hard one. Logically, I’d say Dorian makes the most sense, followed by Cole. Personally, I’d like to see Cassandra too, if only for a bit, to see how Solas/Tevinter magisters deal with Seekers who have the kind of magic-disrupting abilities she does.
17. Do you want to be the leader of a huge organisation again (like the Inquisitor) or more of a leader of a band of misfits (like Hawke)?
Hmmm, something between the two. A small, organized, efficient group of people, something like the Red Jennies, but with contacts [for materials/supplies etc]. That’s what Trespasser seemed to hint at, too, what with spies in the Inquisition [if you opt not to disband] and the fact that Solas has extensive knowledge on how the Inquisitor and their companions think and operate.

flightofthedragon replied to your post “NOTP: literally anything between Fenris and Anders. Cautious...”
this is literally my biggest NOTP in dragon age, my skin crawls at the idea of it. And frankly, people who try to claim it could work usually ignore 80% of anders' writing because it's 'ooc'...
The most simultaneously amusing and frustrating thing about the Dragon Age fandom is the sheer ability that they have to claim that the writers for a series are taking a character that they created so wildly OOC that they have to fix him in fanfics, and by OOC I mean he has bad character traits that ultimately lead to hurting himself and other people, and they just don’t find that very palatable. If we’re going to go by the assumption that characters are best when they’re like people, then we need to expect some of our favorite/well-loved characters to sometimes become complete fuck ups, or even hurt other people. Get the fuck over it.
Anders fan girls that insist that he’s OOC in DA2 or that his change isn’t otherwise demonstrated and merited by the narrative and environment he’s in are frothing at the mouth delusional.
flightofthedragon ha respondido a tu publicación “brood-mother: yo why is dorian’s temptation fear always depicted as...”
I agree, but doesn’t the game itself have Dorian mention that the sexy demon tried to make him give in last time he was in the fade?
Come think of it, it does, right? (Sorry, I’m not the best when it comes to analyzing the games/remembering lines, etc - I finished them alright but at my boyfriend’s and I’ve no internet connection at home so you see how that can be an obstacle lol).
@kurosmind said maybe his fear was being tempted to go too much into magical experimentation and end up doing shit like the old Magisters (which is a nice analysis) and I believe that falling for someone is part of the package, too. Dorian seems very shallow and superficial, but what I believe he fears is being ‘tempted’ to fall in love and end up broken hearted, like with his dad.
Those colours on Jaal are gorgeous aren't they? Literally all I'd need is a very dark nice blue and they'd have combined all my favs ;)
I’m with you on the dark nice blue as well. I can’t believe how lovely he is. I usually fall for voices (and his does seem quite nice) but this is the first time I’ve been so drawn to a character based on his color scheme. :) You know, he is just perfect for your art style. ;)
The Quizquisition is here! But seriously, questions: 91. Do you have any friends who love DA too?, 77 What moment/memory still gives you chills/feels?, and 78 What are you hoping for from DA4?
Ohhh thank you!
so 91. IRL I have one friend for sure, seeing as he’s the one who got me into this franchise last February. I can’t seem to escape it. Other than that I’d say pretty much all my tumblr friends are a fan! But that’s a given tbh.
77. Between Riordan revealing one of the warden’s had to die (and I killed Loghain already) and the musical cue’s in Trespasser leading up to Solas being revealed. I’ll also say that Leandra’s death in DAII only gets more horrific with time and the more I think about it.
78. I would pay so much money for Origin’s to come back! Oh my god would I pay for that. I think the Origin’s mechanic, or even just having npcs to care for from the start (Hawke’s family!) give the game some much more of an emotional impact. Something I feel was lacking in DA:I. Also. Zevran cameo. I need to see one. Aside from that, the game being officially announced would be ace <3
