anaan adaar: ibex or similar antelope

Rynnah Lavellan: red-tailed hawk

garon cadash: a monitor lizard

dorea cadash: wild boar

Varia Trevelyan: thick billed raven

Kost Adaar: nightingale

Revas Lavellan: Secretary bird

13. Can they cook?

Anaan: yes

Rynnah: yes, the dalish are communal enough abt their work that even the first is usually expected to help with the cooking/other chores

Garon: no, his parents had pretensions to if not nobility at least social status and part of that was hiring a ton of servants with lyrium money

Dorea: yes, simply bc her family wasn’t as high up in the carta, so she kind of had to bc a lot of the time she was the only one there for her little siblings

Varia: varia can probably manage to make campfire toast

Kost adaar: yes

Revas: can kinda cook for similar reasons to rynnah, but isn’t good at it (also completely lacked any useful life-skills until her mid teens)

sad Rynnah things: the first time the clan went to move after Rynnah was brought to them, they couldn;t find her anywherhe, which caused a great deal of concern bc she’s a mage and was also like 6 at the time.

eventually, the teenaged hunter rynnah had latched on to finds her hiding in a storage space in their aravel bc rynnah was sure that the only way she could keep from being left behind was to make sure noone knew she was there

Anaan Adaar: weirdly enough, Sera was probably a source of stability for Anaan. Anaan was raised by three tal-vashoth, in a vashoth and tal-vashoth community. She doesn;t get humans, and she gets human authoirty and a religion only insamuch as it seems like a bad idea, so sera going “what if we just fucked with people” makes the most sense of anything she’s heard. The get along extremely well, because Anaan always tries to understand and listen to sera, even if she doesn’t get it. similarly, Anaan has never been greeted with such enthusiasm by anyone who’s not vashothari. she;s used to being an outsider among others, and now she has someone to be an outsider with.

Rynnah: Rynnah never expected to love Josephine as much as she did.like she initially respected josephine bc josephine was polite and genuinely respectful to her, and made it so she didn;t have to deal with poltitics but she finds herslef going by Josie’s office more and more and asking less and less relavent questions, and then she stops and goes. oh no. like Rynnah doesn;t like the inquisition, but she has a tendency to take on a lot of things all the same, and Josie’s smilar issues are obvious so their relationship really helps to serve as a time for them to decompress together. They like to steal off to Rynnah’s chambers to read for recreation

Varia: Scout Harding offers an element of balance and grounding that Varia desperately needs, even if she wouldnt admit it. Like, Harding ikes her attempts to flirt, and believes in the herald thing but she doesn;t offer endless adulation, and what Varia genuinely needs on an interpersonal level is just respect and support and care. And so she wagers on varia going deeper into the deep roads than anyone’s ever been before and coming back, and compliments her on killing dragons, and varia drags lace to halamshiral and brags endlessly abt her to everyone. she meets the harding parents and starts bragging abt lace to them bc she loves lace so obviously lace is perfect. I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT THIS ROMANCE FOR SOMETHING I ALMOST ENTIRELY MADE UP

Drea: Dorea and Sera have the exact same type of ridiculous anti-authority wild streak and it’s amazing for them but slightly terrifying for everyone around them. dorea encourages sera to exit the tavern by jumping out her window. Sera starts drinking contests between The Bull and Dorea. And again, Dorea actually listens to sera and understands her, which is a consistent thing in my sera romances and is very important to me.

Kost: The thing about Kost is that her self-esteem and self-perception has been very distorted by, yknow, everything. Kost is kind, she is gentle, she is caring, but she doesn;t really know these things, she thinks she wants to be but isn’t because of what she is and what she’s been done to her. So Josephine is all those things and intelligent and graceful and beautiful and feminine besides, so Kost looks up to her immediately. and then she realizes that Josie is looking up to her, that Josie thinks SHE’S good, and she just sort of. melts. Josie’s relationship and support is a big contributor to Kost’s self-actualization and development of confidence. they’re both very soft together.

so i know rynnah and vivienne dislike each other bc they’re similar in a lot of ways, but do they ever consciously realize that they’re similar and try to reconcile, is the question?
