This image is a reference to a fanfic I wrote featuring the ShikaRyo ship (Shikadai x Ryogi).

Ryogi and Mitsuki have a lot in common! They're both reserved, they both speak their minds, they both like their best friend, and they've both been to prison :)

Boruto - episode 47

On the last episode of Boruto: Naruto the Next Generations we found out that Konoha is in the midst of an age of modernization, which brings with it vast wealth disparity and people are angry about that. But since Naruto is in Denki's shitlord dad’s pocket, he naturally sides with him over the townspeople of Konoha.

So anyway, cue the catchy ass intro music!

Ok, so we're on the train and Shikadai's like "Snap out of it, Ryogi, or we'll have to anime fight!"

And then the Byakuga Gang Leader is like "I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids!"

And then Shikadai's like "Are you the one giving Ryogi stupid ideas!"

And the leader is like "My ideas aren't stupid you're stupid!"

And then he's like "You're just a stupid child. Go home."

And Boruto's like "You think you can persuade us to leave with your fancy talk!?"

And then Boruto throws some ninja stars at him but Ryogi blocks them and is all "He saved my life once and for some reason that explains why I never noticed that he's clearly evil!"

Then Shikadai's like "Is that the life you hoped for?"

Then Ryogi whines about how no one understand what it's like to be him. Crawling etc etc etc.

Then Shikadai's like, "That's stupid. You're stupid. You remember all those times we played Shogi together?"

And then Ryogi's like "I was faking it!"

Then for some reason Ryogi gets a headache and then uses ice jutsu to make a wall between him and Shikadai.

Then it turns out the reason he never realized the Byakuga gang leader was evil is because he's being brainwashed.

Then it turns out Boruto is being brainwashed now too and thinks Shikadai is a Byakuya gang member.

Then Shikadai uses kunai to break the ice and is like "Like I'm gonna be shoved into a mold that's too tight!"

Then back to Ryogi, who drops his shogi pieces and the Byakuga gang leader is like "Did you get those from your boyfriend?"

Then he throws them out of the train like a douche, then he's like "Go have an anime fight with that black haired kid."

Then back to Boruto and Shikadai and Boruto almost stabs Shikadai in the face, but he uses his shadow jutsu thingy to stop him and is all like "How weak are you to brainwashing?" and then Boruto's like "Was I brainwashed?" and Shikadai's like "No shit, Sherlock." and then punches Boruto in the face.

And then cut to the Byakuya gang leader who kills one of his faceless goons because he's evil.

And then cut back to Shikadai and Boruto where they talk about how they shouldn't go have an anime fight with the bad guys but will anyway.

Then they go to the next car where Ryogi shoots icicles at them but they decide not to do fight the miniboss and go straight for the final boss, but then Ryogi jumps up onto the top of the train with them.

Then Shikadai's like "Boruto, you go on ahead and fight that other guy all by yourself. I'm going to stay here and make out with Ryogi."

Then cut to the Byakuya gang leader who is going to detach the engine from the cars but Boruto stops him.

Then back to Shikadai and Ryogi and Shikadai uses Talk no Jutsu, but it was not very effective.

Then for some reason the brainwashing on Ryogi gets stronger and he thinks Shikadai is the person that killed his parents.

Then cut to the Byakuya gang leader and Boruto and the leader is like "Let's use the Talk no Jutsu instead of having an anime fight."

And then he's like "I surrender, but not really! Evil psych-out!"

And then he kicks Boruto in the face and then detaches the engine from the rest of the train.

Then Shikadai uses Talk no Jutsu again and it's super effective.

Then Boruto uses his wind ninja magic to launch Shikadai at Ryogi and break the brainwashing.

And then Ryogi's like "Sorry."

And then Shikadai's all "I don't understand what it's like to be you, crawling etc etc etc, but I'm optimistic about the future because of a shogi metaphor involving pawns.

Then Boruto's like "The evil guy got away."

Then Naruto shows up, having waited until the last minute when Boruto and Shikadai have done all the hard parts to step in and stop the Byakuya gang leader so that he can take all the credit like the piece of shit that he is.

Then time skip to a few days later where Shikadai is in the park playing Shogi. The Byakuga gang leader and Ryogi are in jail, never to be seen or mentioned again after this episode and Boruto returns the scroll thing to that one scientist guy.

Then Boruto shows up and talks about how long it will be until Ryogi is released from prison (Shikadai says he doesn't know but I think we all know it's never) and what an asshole Naruto is.

Then Boruto's like "You still owe me a burger for helping you save your boyfriend's life." and Shikadai's like "Oh yeah, I forgot. What a drag."

And then catchy ass ending music. And that’s the end of that arc.

Boruto - episodes 45 & 46

Not a lot happened in #45. Ryogi used his Tragic Backstory jutsu and Shikadai was all “You’re one of the Byakuya Gang.” and Ryogi was all “Naaaaaaah.” and Shikadai was all “Yeeeeeeeah.” and Ryogi was like “Ok, yeah I am.” and Shikadai was like “Stop being a noble thief, you pleb, or you’ll just be a pawn of the main villain of this arc.” and Ryogi was like “No one understands what it’s like to be me! CRAAAAAWLING IIIIIN MY SKIIIIIIN THESE WOOOOOUNDS THEY WIIIIIIL NOT HEEEEEEALLLLL!” and then runs away while Shikadai dramatically calls out his name.

It’s like Romeo and Juliet but with ninjas. And two dudes. And neither of them die (Well, Ryogi might in the next episode. I don’t know yet). And their families aren’t bitter enemies. Well, I guess they kind of are bitter enemies since Ryogi’s legal guardian is evil and Shikadai’s dad works for the government...would that make Boruto the Mercutio?

Anyway. On to #46!

Remember, kids: People who are upset about wealth disparity and large companies mistreating their employees are actually just being manipulated by bad guys. Always trust large corporations. They surely have your best interest at heart.

So anyway, the boss of the Byakuya gang twirls his (figurative) Snidely Whiplash mustache menacingly while watching a protest march from the rooftops.

Then catchy ass opening.

Then all the ninja kids are gathered in front of the police station. Kiba and Choji and Sai are there for some reason. It seems that someone has been encouraging people to protest the Kaminarimon company (that’s the company owned by Denki’s shitlord dad) and for some reason this is a crisis.

I assume this is another product of Naruto’s shitty leadership. Suppressing civil protest seems like the kind of thing Naruto would do.

Anyway, why the ninja kids are part of this I don’t know. Like, what are these police even being paid for if they need children to supplement their forces at the first sign of trouble?

Then Boruto’s kinda bummed because he doesn’t want to be used as a child soldier in his father’s totalitarian regime but Konohamaru is just like “This is our mission and it’s our duty to use our ninja powers to suppress the rights of these normal citizens.”

Cut to the Kaminarimon HQ where the Ino-Shika-Cho trio has been assigned a crucial position and Moegi’s like “You’ve got the always cool-headed Shikadai with you.“ but Shikadai is preoccupied with the first fight he had with his boyfriend.

Then Iwabe is visiting Metal at the hospital and is all “I want to be a child soldier in Naruto’s totalitarian regime too, but I can’t because I’m grounded!”

Then Chocho notices that for some reason the placement of the ninjas and the protestors are identical to how pieces are placed on a shogi board or something and Shikadai figures out that the protests are just a decoy and the Byakuya gang is going to attack the lab of that one scientist dude from before and he’s all “WHAT A DRAG!!!!” and flings himself off the top of the building to his untimely death. Ok, not really. He’s a ninja, so he can jump off buildings like there’s no tomorrow and survive.

Anyway, then cut to Team 7 and Boruto is complaining about being bored and then he sees Shikadai run past and goes after him.

Cut to Kiba and Choji and Sai deciding to try and disperse the protest without using ninjutsu. I assume this is in defiance of Naruto’s direct order to slaughter the innocent protestors en masse.

Cut to the research lab and it turns out that Shikadai was right. The Byakuya gang is there to steal a thing.

Cut to Team Ino-Shika-Cho + Boruto and they’re like “Even though you’re acting on a hunch we’re on your side, Shikadai, because we’re a team.”

Cut to the Kaminarimon company and it turns out the protestors are being mind controlled. Remember kids: no one would ever be legitimately upset about wealth disparity and large corporations mistreating their employees. Anyone who is is just being mind controlled.

Cut to the research lab and the scientist guy actually put a robot tracking device that looks like a bug on the Byakuya gang.

Cut to the Kaminarimon company and Denki tells the police chief about the mind controlled people and Denki’s dad is like “Suddenly I’m proud of you!”

Remember kids: corporate bigwigs who love their sons are actually good guys and are being unfairly slandered by accusations of mistreating their employees.

Cut to the Byakuya gang and the leader guy is bragging about how rich they’ll be when they sell the scroll thing they stole from that one scientist guy and then Chocho, being the badass that she is, jumps out the sky and smashes them with her giant fist.

But it turns out they dodged and Shikadai, Inojin and Boruto show up.

And then the bad guy is like, “I started the protests so that no one would find us using ninja magic but I neglected to think about people using science to find us! What a totally understandable and not glaring oversight!”

Then Boruto’s like “Give back that thing you stole from that one scientist guy!”

Then the Byakuya gang leader runs away, taking Ryogi with him, leaving the others behind to keep the ninja kids distracted. Shikadai and Boruto run after them and Chocho and Inojin decide to use Ass Whoopin no Jutsu on the guys that stayed behind.

Cut to the Kaminarimon company where the people are still protesting.

Then cut back to Inojin and Chocho who kick the crap out of most of the Byakuya gang guys but are almost beaten by the last one but are saved by Shikamaru.

Cut to the Kaminarimon company where the mind controlled protestors are freed and Naruto shows up and tells everyone that the rumors about the Kaminarimon company are false.

Remember kids: when a politician assures people that corporations aren’t mistreating their employees you should trust him because he’s definitely telling the truth.

Then the crowd does the slow-clap-leading-to-applause thing.

Then cut back to the forest where the Byakuya gang leader guy and Ryogi jump on a train to get away but Shikadai and Boruto jump on too.

Then the Byakuya gang leader’s like “We got away! MWAHAHA!”

And then Shikadai and Boruto enter the car and Shikadai goes “ (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■)  Checkmate.” and then the CSI Miami YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH plays.

Then catchy as hell ending music.
