Things People Don't Talk About Regarding ChoKarui
Disclaimer: I am indifferent about ChoKarui. I am not making this post to bash them or their fans.
I know, I know, I'm beating a dead horse.
"ChoKarui had no build up or interaction."
"Choji and Karui's relationship was unexpected."
"Kishimoto needed to pair Choji off with someone and Karui was the only one left."
These are all the usual talking points fans bring up when talking about ChoKarui. The thing I want to discuss is how you guys feel about ChoKarui given the canon evidence provided for Choji's preferences in women. Additionally, why do you guys think Kishimoto and the team didn't try to hint at ChoKarui leading up to the ending or give Karui some of the elements Choji likes in women.
Here's an example:
Manga: Tsukuyomi Dream Girl
Anime: Tsukuyomi Dream Girl
Choji's ACTUAL wife, Karui
Correct me if I'm wrong, the tsukuyomi dream sequences took place in Volume 70. ChoKarui is revealed at the end of Volume 72. According to Wikipedia, Volume 70 and Volume 72 were released only about six months apart.
Unless the editors made him write an epilogue with everyone married, I'm not sure why Kishimoto didn't think to develop ChoKarui's relationship or hint at it somewhere in the manga. It's not like Kishimoto is bad at building up relationships. He had been building up ShikaTema since Part I! Why not make Choji's dream girl look more like Karui? Did he really not plan on pairing him with the cloud ninja?
Don't get me wrong, I like that Choji actually married a woman that he met later in life rather than as a kid. It feels more realistic to most people's experiences. What I don't understand is depriving the fans of ChoKarui shipping content when you know Karui is the only available woman for Choji who needs to carry on the Akimichi/Ino-Shika-Cho lineage.
It would have been easy to show Karui as a great cook or Choji finding darker skinned women attractive.
I am honestly shocked that no one is talking about how according to the manga or anime, Karui does not fit his ideal woman either in looks, demeanor (dream girl is seemingly sweet), or occupation.

Shippuden S 8 Ep 406: The Place Where I Belong
Ino:
By the way Choji, I heard all about it. How you were flirting with all of the nurses the whole time.
Choji:
Ino, I'm going to tell you one universal truth about men. There isn't a man alive who doesn't go crazy over nurses.
I think it's interesting that both Sakura and Ino have medical ninjutsu experience which is related to nursing and Choji finds hot, but Karui is not shown to have any healing arts training.
There's also no mention of Karui's preferences in men during Shippuden. Maybe that's why Karui was chosen as Choji's wife in the end. For the most part, Karui was a blank slate that Kishimoto could use to fill Choji's empty wife spot.
