Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But To Kiss (2022, Japan, BL Drama)
Back at it again with another quick review! I just love Japanese BL dramas. They are quirky, cute and do tend to be on the shorter side. Unlike the last review I did on OFC, MUHNCBTK is a longer at 8 episodes. It came out in 2022 and is based on a manga with the same title.
This is another traditional Japanese BL drama. Lots of over the top expressions, heavy on the internal conflict, great happy ending with a twist. I enjoy this drama but don’t give it much rewatch value like OFC. It could be the plot with the main lead and his reasoning but I just don’t get super geeked to rewatch it. I do rewatch it just because I need a comfort show, but this isn’t my go to.
The two main lead actors are great though. I loved Yusuke Sato as Shinomiya Naoya in this role and in Make a Bow and Kiss. Ryosuke Sota as Fukuhara Kôta is fun and quirky. He has a pretty big filmography despite being so young so I can’t wait to watch more from him. Hidden gem of a actor is one of the supporting roles played by Nakayama Satsuki, an openly transgender actor. Reading his story really was inspiring!
Overall, this is cute and quick, you can get a lot of laundry done with this show and it does have its laugh out loud moments. Enjoy the theme song below by Octpath. It stays on rotation for me as a fun and upbeat jam! 7/10.
