New Initial D fic: Room No. 8

After the landslide success of Gunma's local racing expedition, Project D, its leader and its dual aces decide to burn the remaining days of their summer together on a trip to Okinawa. It's Ryousuke's last hurrah before diving deep into his residency at university, while his brother, Keisuke, is interested in trying all the bar spots and meeting new people, and Takumi is simply looking forward to his first real vacation that he can remember in a long time. After all, once they've returned, Takumi and Keisuke will be preoccupied responding to recruitment letters. None of them could know what would be in store for them, and, over a year later, the three men are forced to contend with the consequences of what fate has dealt them.

I'm back on my usual bullshit. With this one I really tried to put effort into the parts I usually avoid bc I'm bad at them (backgrounds). I have to say that I'm not entirely happy with it, and the coloured pencils didn't really cooperate with me this time, but I'm still glad I went out of my comfort zone a bit.

Also, is this scene cute? Is it a bit sinister? Who knows 👀 (There are some hidden details I'm really proud of, lol)

The boys are surprised when they check their tasks today, and tension ramps as Keisuke has to butt up against his brother's trademarked propensity to never discuss why he does things, made all the worse because they've been confined in a single room together for four days and counting.

Chapters 3 and 4 continue my trapped room crossover AU between Initial D and Room No. 9, featuring Ryousuke, Takumi, and Keisuke being kidnapped on their post Project D vacation where they're forced to choose between tasks to inflict on one another. Today they'll be choosing their first task.

It's Takumi's turn again, and after a poor night's sleep, ruminating over the day before and what had taken place, he faces his task today with trepidation, wondering if the tasks will be swapped back again, and what lies in wait. By the end of the day, he'll be altered again, in a way he couldn't really fathom before then.

Meanwhile, at the end finish line of his final race for this season's local rallying competition, he finally meets the Takahashi's after over a year of isolation.

Chapters 19 & 20 for Room No. 8 are up!

It could be their final day in the room, and with one last curve ball from their captors, Takumi faces humiliation, knowing that all three of them will have to work together to make it out by the end of the day and avoid whatever is in store for them if they fail.

In the present, Takumi seeks out comfort in the midst of a late night anxiety attack.

I whipped up a sketch for Chapter 19, and though it's a downer, probably one of the hardest chapters to read in this fic, uh, merry christmas eve? Here's the new chapter!
