I think their intention was for a Harris or O'Rourke or even Bootyjudge, but none of them took off so they relied on Biden, and Warren was there just to chomp at potential voters that could go to Sanders. But now that Biden is with a foot in the grave, the Warren ticket is the only lifeguard for them.
I can’t say for certain what the deal was/is with O’Rourke bc idk enough about his relationship is with Washington/NYC.
But I can tell you for sure that Harris is already up there out of desperation for a fresh face.
She’s part of a California political machine committed to undoing as many of the harnesses that Washington has on this state as possible, and make no mistake: they’re loving that Trump is reining in some of California’s sovereignty and tensions between Washington and Sacramento (really San Francisco) will escalate regardless of party.
I also don’t know if Biden was seen as a preferred, safe choice at any point. This isn’t his first run for president, they’ve all been disasters, and it’s no secret Obama suggested he sit it out and everyone got the signal (he has enormous influence still from behind the scenes, anyone that says otherwise is politically illiterate).
Bootlicker is definitely the preferred puppet of the bourgeoisie, he’s exactly what they think would be electable: white but gay, democrat but midwestern, progressive but veteran, all that bullshit. Warren’s no innocent, though, she’s been around Washington long enough to know what’s up so if she’s been making nice with those same donors and she proves she can pantomime Sanders’/Trump’s anti-establishment branding, they’ll probably just let Biden go as far as possible taking up airtime with dumb gaffes, mistakes, questions about his age (which to their benefit also hurt Sanders) etc.
