rocks

“Oh no not again.”

 Ryder turn at Vetra’s groan with a rock in her hand, “What?”

 Vetra glanced down at the rock and then back at Ryder, “You know Suvi will lick that right? And then Lexi is going to be angry at the both of you because you keep bringing back rocks for girlfriend.”

 “Really Ryder, you’ve just got to give her something else to lick.” Peebee said from behind Vetra and the two of them broke out into snickers.

 Ryder flushed and huffed lightly. “I’m just you know. Doing my part for…science. Rocks are science.” She paused for a moment. “Please don’t tell Lexi.”

 Kallo shook his head when she stepped onto the bridge with the rock in her hand and then muttered something about auto-pilot and Gil and ducked out of the room.

 Ryder resisted sticking her tongue out at his retreating form, it really wasn’t as bad as the team was making it out to be; the fauna was more of a problem then the rocks.

 She’d at least stopped the salad idea that Suvi once had.

 “I’ve got a surprise.” Ryder said, sneaking up behind Suvi and watching her jump a little.

 “Ryder, please.” Suvi replied, holding a hand to her heart the way she did every time Ryder surprised her. “Wait is that-?”

 “A rock. Courtesy of yours truly.” Ryder held it out with a flourish, grinning at Suvi.

 “Oh,” Suvi’s eyes lit up as she took the rock, not even paying attention to Ryder anymore and it was worth it just to see how excited Suvi was.

 “You’re adorable.” She told Suvi who wasn’t even listening but was going on about the material and structure.

 Before Suvi could try to lick it though the comms opened up and Lexi’s voice fell over them. “Suvi don’t. Ryder stop encouraging her.”

 “I think if we don’t move she can’t sense us.” Ryder mock whispered to Suvi who giggled in response.

 “Ryder.” Lexi sounded exasperated.

 “Who told on me?”

 “No one. I just know you better.” Lexi replied. “Suvi please bring that to me to scan first.”

 Suvi sighed and stood up, pressing a kiss to Ryder’s cheek as she did. “It was a very sweet gesture Ryder.”

 “At least someone here appreciates me.” Ryder smiled, tempted to pull Suvi back for a proper kiss but she knew that Suvi was too excited to check out the rock and learn more about it. She’d wait till later that night when Suvi came by her quarters with all her results and sneak a kiss then.

 “Always, Ryder.” Suvi said, beaming at her before she walked out of the room.

 Without a doubt Ryder knew she’d be picking up more rocks the next time she was planetside too.

Ryder loves the sound of Suvi's voice so much so that when she's talking to the team on comms Ryder has sometimes tripped up. And has gotten herself zapped in the electric water stuff. She's just too gay to function. Cora just groans and restores her shields for her and calls her a dumbass.

Suvi probably doesn’t even notice and just thinks that Ryder’s being clumsy and chides her for not being more careful and fussed a bit to make sure shes okay and Ryder just listens as she does, still madly in love

Ryder doesn’t get quantum mechanics or ship or plant stuff at all but she’ll listen diligently as Suvi talks about them and carefully slip the plants away when she thinks Suvi might be going for a taste test and all together just loves to hear her girlfriend be excited about things even though she doesn’t get them.
