Ship Sleep Dynamics - Aeryn/ Reyes
Doing this for my Mass Effect Andromeda ship of Aeryn Ryder and Reyes Vidal
Again open tag for anyone to do this, if they see it and want to have a go. Already done this for my DATV ship here
How often do they sleep together? (actually sleep btw)
Not as often as they'd like. Between Aeryn's job as Pathfinder and Reyes eventually running Kadara. They often go weeks without spending time with each other but always make sure to spend the entire night together so they can wake up together. That changes after Meridian is found, where Aeryn makes damn sure to arrange time off as she can far more easily and quickly travel where she needs to. She's also instrumental is arranging diplomatic relations for Kadara with the Nexus, for them to have an embassy that allows Reyes to visit the station and Meridian too.
Where do they sleep?
Depends who is with whom. On Kadara, they will sleep in either Reyes's main home behind Tartarus or one of his many safehouses dotted around Kadara, including one of Aeryn's favourites set into one of the mountain tops with a hot spring next to it.
On the Tempest in her captain's quarters.
On the Nexus, then it's her quarters on Hyperion or eventually in her new appointed apartment in Meridian (though that is her least favourite place as she cannot get used to the reversed sky of the dyson sphere.)
How do they prepare to sleep?
Usually by tiring each other out, then having a shower to clean up. 😉
What do they wear to sleep?
Usually nothing, their clothing discarded across the floor.
Oh they cannot get enough of each other when they are together, so usually fall asleep entangled in each other's arms. Sometimes on the rare occasion exhaustion forgoes anything other than sleep, they they will happily cuddle until they do.
What are their preferred sleep positions?
Curled together, limbs tangled together. Or during Kadara's very hot summers, an arm draped over one or the other.
Something Aeryn found out though was Reyes to be very good at being the large spoon. It makes her feel protected, which she didn't realise she needed until she fell asleep with him. She sleeps like a baby curled up with him.
How easily do they fall asleep?
Reyes has an active mind and after a year of always watching his back, it's made it hard for him to easily fall asleep unless he's exhausted either from work or more pleasurable activities. He far prefers the latter.
Aeryn on the other hand has SAM who can help her fall asleep at a mere mention from her now. if she didn't have that though, she'd be a very light sleeper without Reyes cuddling her.
Do they toss and turn a lot?
Both tend to sleep pretty peacefully, once they feel secure. Unless one of them is having a nightmare or overthinking some issue.
Thankfully neither snore unless either are ill or so exhausted they fall asleep in an odd position. If they do snore it wakes them up quickly and they adjust positions.
On Kadara, neither really do as the general area around the port and his safehouses is fairly warm all year round and on the Hyperion station and the Tempest it's temperature controlled, so both only tend to drape a blanket over them for the comfort of it being there as both of them also run quite warm.
What do they dream about?
Aeryn dreams of settling down one day. Of being able to give up Pathfinder duties and be an ambassador to Kadara, eventually moving there. She also regularly dreams of Reyes when they are not together.
Nightmare wise she still sometimes dreams about the times she...died and what the remaining kett plan to do.
Reyes often dreams of Aeryn and a future with her. His nightmares involve the secrets he keeps and the danger they could pose to Aeryn.
How easily do they wake up?
Both Reyes and Aeryn wake up pretty easily due to military training and their pasts.
Aeryn got used to light sleeping, especially once she started doing protection work for digs, sleeping in bunks and dorm rooms with others meant the risk of being woken was common and it only got worse with the risk of pirate attack being common on the fringes.
Reyes when he became an exile...sleep was something you risked unless you had people you trusted to watch out for you while you did.
Neither enjoy it and prefer to wake up on their own time and pace which they both try to set now as respective authority figures.
How awake are they afterwards?
That depends how fast they can get hold of caffeine.
