Not the anon that asked this, but considering Komaeda’s my favorite DR character and Ouma is kind of second at this point, I would also agree they’re totally not the same. They have a couple of similar traits, but like a lot of their core aspects are pretty different to be honest.

And also: lumping them together and calling them the same totally does injustice to the way Kodaka wrote them, and also shows a lack of understanding for both characters in my opinion...
Right! It’s plain insulting to the frankly ridiculous amount of work Kodaka put in on Ouma, to act like he’s nothing more than some Nagito clone with the ‘shit stirring’. They operate on a completely different basis to begin with, and this ties in to the whole ‘chemical’ vs ‘situational’ deal regarding behaviour and motive.
We know that Nagito’s thing is largely chemistry based (that is, until a certain ‘motive’ he gets in ch4) due to how his brain literally reacts to the killing game and worsens because of it, but Ouma’s not that simple because the mystery elements outright suggest his situation surrounding the entire thing is more complicated than the others’, even extending to his talent’s existence. This is the most major difference that I wish people would acknowledge more, geez!
(Though Ouma wound up beating out Nagito for top favourites there was a time I was unhealthily attached to the latter, way back in the day..)
