Coming back from the dead to say this:

A character without a known backstory does not make for a 'badly written character' especially when part of the point is he's revealed as much as he is perceived by the protagonist, which is to say not much

Setting aside the issue of Kokichi 'being abusive' and how such accusations most often diminish characters' agency (like Miu or Gonta) there's no such thing as 'narcissistic abuse' what you're referring to is abuse. Stop saying that shit

Danganronpa V3 - Cover Composition

What I find interesting about the cover’s composition is how Kaede and Shuichi, as well as Kaito and Kokichi, are on opposite ends of each other.

Kaede and Shuichi are depicted as slightly larger than the others, suggesting their central roles, while Kaito and Kokichi, though not depicted as prominently, still occupy the center of their sides—subtly hinting that they, too, might play more significant roles.

And if you draw a cross in the middle, each of them sits at the end of one axis. 

The artworks themselves are also pretty fitting. 

Kaede’s body faces the right and Shuichi’s the left, as if they complement each other, while Kaito and Kokichi both face the front as if they parallel one another.

But maybe I'm looking too deep into this-

Not going to lie, I'm a little nervous that at least one student in the Goodbye Despair remake is going to suffer from character assassination. And may God help us all if it's Gundam

this is a possibility, but to be honest, with Kodaka "thoroughly" overseeing the project, i think he'll keep an eye on things. and if he doesn't, we still have the original. until i start to see some worrying stuff in promos, i fully expect the AU will be, at least, decent with some jank, yet still rather enjoyable

I REALLY want to know what people think Kokichi was up to when he was begging Monokuma to kill him along side Gonta

Like ofc I have my own interpretation of it (Haha Mercy Kill Theory---coughs.) But I've seen people say that Kokichi's whole deal in Case 4 was to use Gonta's death to further the whole "I'm the Mastermind" plot he had going on, but like. Begging for death from your insane captor doesn't seem like it helps that plan, no matter how you spin it.

So like. I gotta know what people think is going on in Kokichi's head here. Why would he take such an unnecessary risk. A really high one at that--because I don't think Monokuma even says no. Gonta talks Kokichi out of it.

Honestly I feel this was a crowning moment of 'fucking kill me I can't do this anymore', that he just... let slip. So much hell is resting on his back and his last confidant is about to die. Right then he was ready to commit, and why Gonta needed to talk him down. Which is why he just straight up dissociated for a bit after Gonta's execution, I think

...when I get sunk enough - which I suspect is pretty soon - I just know I'm going to draw 100s of parallels between the Hundred Line and Danganronpa V3. The latter is a case of 'has war themes under 17 layers of irony and misdirection' while the Hundred Line is, well, at least a hundred times more blatant and undeniable about them
