interrupted again

June 21, 2019

Sixteen year old Remington sat next to Luke in the corner of a restaurant in Vancouver.

It was pretty late at night and they have been out all day as today was the 2019 NHL Draft, and a lot of people all joined together at the restaurant to celebrate together.

Remington had felt he socialized more than enough for one day and sat with Luke as far as possible away from everyone.

The two best friends were laughing a lot watching their brothers and friends do karaoke.

Luke slid out of his seat going to the bathroom and leaving Remington alone, making Remington pull out his phone and start scrolling.

Remington felt a body flop down next to him in the booth and throw an arm over his shoulder, his body shuddered slighty at the touch and knew exactly who it was, Cole.

Remington has now known Cole for over two years and he would maybe consider Cole a friend now but Cole was always going to be his older brother’s best friend.

Remington knew he had a crush on Cole, Cole was the first guy he ever had a crush on but he knows it can never be anything more because of Trevor.

Anytime Cole and Remington are ever alone within in minutes Trevor has interrupted them, Remington knows Trevor doesn’t even realize what he is doing but it only reminds Remington why being with Cole can never happen.

With Cole getting drafted to Montreal and heading to Wisconsin for College, Remington hoped the distance would make him lose any feelings he has for Cole and finally get over him.

“Hey Remi!” Cole shouted beaming extremely wide, Remington could smell the alcohol coming off of Cole.

“Hello Cole.” Remington spoke back his shoulders tense with how close Cole is and how much he is touching him.

Cole reached up and started playing with Remington’s hair, “It’s so pretty.” Cole looked enthralled as he looked and played with Remington’s blonde hair.

“Thank you.” Remington stoically said trying not to lean into Cole’s touch knowing he is just drunk and Cole is a touchy drunk.

“You’re so pretty.” Cole softly spoke rubbing his fingers across Remington’s face and before he could even think about responding.

“Coley!” Trevor shouted looking just as drunk as Cole as he stumbled over to the pair, “Remi!” Trevor happily gasped as he saw his baby brother there and pulled him into a hug.

“Come Coley, Jacky has a new song for us to sing.” Trevor let go of his baby brother and wrapped an arm around his best friend instead.

Remington watched as Trevor dragged Cole away and realized Trevor had interrupted them again, it was just another reminder that Remington needed to get over Cole.

confusion

August 24, 2020

Cole was sitting out in the backyard of the Hughes’s lake house, he has just gotten here the other day and it was nice being able to see all of his friends once again after being quarantined.

Cole tensed in his chair as he heard a laugh that he could never forget, he opened his eyes and saw Remington walking outside with Luke.

Cole froze looking at Remington, Cole hasn’t seen Remington since his draft last year.

Remington wasn’t at the lake house when Cole was last summer as Remington and Luke were at Remington’s family’s beach house in the Hamptons.

Cole didn’t know if Remington was avoiding him since the draft but it sure seemed like it, Cole thought they were kinda friends and use to send texts or funny videos every once in awhile but Remington slowly backed off after the draft.

Cole hoped that Remington is not avoiding him because he is uncomfortable from Cole’s actions on his draft night, Cole was so drunk that night he didn’t even remember what he did that night until weeks later and he couldn’t apologize to Remington as Cole hasn’t seen him since that night.

Cole has always found Remington extremely attractive even when he was in a slightly awkward faze and slowly the attraction become more and more as Cole knew Remington, Remington wasn’t even seventeen yet and he’s already taller than Cole.

Cole reminded himself no matter how long he has known Remington and what he feels for him, he will not do anything with being eighteen and Remington still is under age.

Cole frowned watching as Luke and Remington walked outside together leaning on each other as they laughed making a sharp pain in his chest, he has always thought Remington and Luke would eventually end up together and Cole would never have a chance with Remington.

“Remi!” Matt smiled getting up to hug Remington.

Remington and Luke did not join everyone at the lake house as they were at a training camp for the past week together.

“Hi Matty.” Remington smiled softly hugging back Matt, bedsides the Hughes brothers out of all Trevor’s friends Remington has always been closest with Matt.

“Rem.” Cole called out softly gaining Remington’s attention and giving him a hopeful smile.

“Cole.” Remington smiled tightly as he realized despite the distance between Cole and him over the past year his feelings have not gone away what so ever.

Cole frowned slighty noticing Remington’s smile wasn’t genuine.

Luke moved to his best friend slighty protective, Luke has been there on the days and nights where Remington was upset because of the feelings he held for Cole making Luke quite protective of his best friend.

Luke didn’t like how much Cole had such a hold on Remingtons heart and how easily Cole’s actions affects Remington. Luke knows Cole doesn’t even realize the effect he has on Remington but Luke is still fiercely protective of Remington.

“We’re gonna head inside unpack we’ll be back.” Luke nodded at the rest of Jack and Quinn’s friends, Luke and Remington had already seen Jack, Quinn and Trevor inside but wanted to say hi to everyone else.

Remington nodded immediately understanding what Luke was trying to and he sent a tight smile to everyone else trying to seem normal and not like he just realized he was totally still in love with his brother’s best friend.

Cole watched them walk away with a sad face and hoped he didn’t mess everything up with Remington.

October 20, 2017

Remington and Luke were sitting in one of the hallway in the U.S.A. hockey arena waiting for their brothers to finish up practice.

Remington threw his head back cackling at Luke and Luke laughed just as hard his forehead smacking onto Remington’s shoulder.

“What are you two gremlins doing?” Trevor called out as walked out with Jack, Cole and Alex seeing Luke and Remington just absolutely cackling on the floor.

“Nothing.” Remington spluttered out once Luke and him calmed down.

Trevor walked over leaning down holding out a hand for his baby brother, Remington took his hand standing up and held out a hand for Luke, who took it standing up as well.

Trevor gasped realizing his brother hasn’t met Cole yet, Trevor threw an arm around his baby brothers should “Remi this is Coley. Coley this is my baby brother Remi.” Trevor proudly introduced his brother to Cole and ruffled Remington’s hair making Remington groan and try to fix it.

“Hi.” Remington greeted and looked over at Cole freezing as they met each other’s eyes.

Remington and Cole stared at each other for long enough to Luke to fake a cough and make them reluctantly look away.

“Hi.” Cole softly whispered back after he snapped out of his awe.

“Good now all my favorite people have met.” Trevor cheered happily squeezing his brother’s shoulder.

Trevor didn’t realize he interrupted the moment between Remington and Cole and it would not be the last time he did that.

September 18, 2017

Remington was sitting on the bleachers next to the practice rink waiting for his brother Trevor to finish with practice so they could go home.

Remington was working on his homework while Trevor practiced so he could be free when he got home and go outside to the net.

Luke walked in to the building having to come later to the rink that Jack having a meeting after his last class of the day and had to walk to the arena alone, he headed to the bleachers where he was planning to wait for Jack to finish practice.

The bleachers were mostly empty except for for one boy sitting with a few textbooks open and Luke titled his head and realized the boy is in a few of his classes.

Luke walked over to him, “Could i sit?” Luke questioned making Remington look up and saw Luke gesturing to the spot next to him.

Remington nodded and Luke sat down and threw his backpack onto the floor.

“I’m Luke.” Luke held out his hand, “I think we have a few classes together.”

“Remington.” Remington nodded and looked at Luke closer and remembered the curls he sees that’s a few rows in front of him, “Yeah we do.”

“You play hockey?” Luke questioned looking curious.

“Yeah, i’m playing on the little caesar’s team.” Remington nodded telling Luke, he starts practicing with his new team next week.

“No way me too!” Luke smiled widely, he’s glad to have met someone that’s going to be on the team having just moved to Michigan.

“Sick.” Remington smiled looking just as excited, “What are you waiting here for?”

“Oh my brother Jack is practicing right now.” Luke answered back and pointed at Jack who was on the ice skating around.

“Wait Hughes?” Remington blinked in realization.

Luke nodded in response.

“My brother Trevor is on the team and he never shuts up about Jack.” Remington snickered as he told Luke.

“Oh! you’re a Zegras.” Luke quickly realized having heard the name Trevor so much since Jack met Trevor.

“Yup.” Remington nodded back.

Luke and Remington became the best of friends that day, the next day at school Luke changed seats to sit next to Remington, they started walking to the arena together, they started playing hockey together and basically spent most of their days together.

oh my gosh of course!!!!!

they have quite a big size difference and they both love how difference size they are to each other.

because of their size difference cole’s favorite thing is to curl up in a little ball on top of remington

remington is a very earlier riser and likes to start the morning running or working out so he is alway awake before cole and will either make cole breakfast or slip back into bed so cole can wake up to cuddles

remington can speak fluent green and cole absolutely folds when he does

cole is very very clingy with remington and even once they started dating they started spending even more time together and always spending the night at each others places
