After the end of season 10, with Cristina leaving, I will honestly say that I was a bit worried what would become of Grey's. Cristina was an integral part of the show and was 1/2 of the show's main "love affair." With Derek expressing his desire to leave, Maggie popping up, Amelia showing up as well, Callie and Arizona on the rocks, and Owen left alone, it seemed like too much was happening too fast and there wasn't enough time to focus on each story line carefully because there were so many stories to tell. Also, I felt as though the show lost touch with the focus on the patients as well. But, I have to say, now that we're 10 episodes into Season 11 I feel like Grey's is becoming what it used to be again. I love the idea that Meredith has to learn how to be alone. I love that Callie and Arizona are learning how to do what's good for themselves, rather than what's good for them as a couple. I love that Meredith is left to question herself, "Am I becoming my mother?" I love that Owen is also learning how to be alone again. I love that two people, such as Jackson and April, that are complete polar opposites, are facing such a terrible and life-altering thing such as losing a child, but are still loving each other and still trying to find a way, instead of giving up when it gets hard. I love that Amelia has come to Seattle and shown everyone up that thought she couldn't escape the shadow of her brother. I love that Meredith and Derek are beginning to learn that marriage is give and take, and that it's not always going to be easy. I love that the patients are beginning to matter again. I love that Bailey has gotten her sass back. I love that Richard is back to being the "Chief." I love that Maggie is not, and never will be, Cristina Yang, but rather her own person. I love that even though Cristina is gone, she is not forgotten. I love that Arizona is faced with the impossible task of learning from a teacher that is going to die soon. I love that the writers aren't wrapping things up in little packages anymore, that these characters are fighting for what they believe in. I love it all. I think that the writers are doing such an amazing job with something that I wasn't sure was going to work. They took the hole that Cristina left, and filled it with story lines that make you think, and that in itself is amazing.
