“But mother--” Sunny protested as she was being dressed by servants. They were putting her in a fairly revealing pale pink dress and adorning her hair and body with different accessories and jewels. What they were preparing her for was to meet her new fiancé; one that she would marry to bring peace to their families. Her mother cut her off saying how it was her duty as the first-born daughter to bring about peace and blah blah blah. Sunny didn’t want to hear it; what she wanted was to fall in love and then marry. Needless to say, she was very unhappy.
Rosy cheeks puffed out in disapproval as she was chauffeured into a vehicle and driven to the manor she was to live in for the rest of her life. The place was huge, almost as big as her own home, and it was daunting. She didn’t like it or the feel of not really being safe among dozens of people who despised her. After stopping in front a set of large doors, Sunny was ushered out of the car and into the unfamiliar building. Her mother reminded her to be polite and respectful so as not to make a fool of herself or her family; nobody wanted a war amongst these clans.
After the reminder from her mother, she was led into a room off to the side which she assumed was an office or parlour, and she was face to face with her fiancé. He was handsome, she’d give him that, but there was something about him that she didn’t like. She stayed still for a moment before her mother kindly elbowed her in the ribs to let her know she was to curtsey, and she did. Under her breath her mother said to introduce herself. “I am Sunny, your bride to be. Pleasure to meet you.” Sunny struggled to keep her face serene and not unpleasant like she wanted so badly to seem.
