last first kiss | scaniella
Who: Scout Nicks and Daniella Simons What: They go to Times Square to watch the ball drop!!! When: Times Squre, NY Notes: no tw, but super duper cute!! this was a joke trip they said they would take when they first met, literally their first convo was going to watch the ball drop together and now they did :-) not to mention they met on new years so their anniversary of knowing each other is new years which is kinda cool if u ask me
Scout held the hairspray can above his head, squinting his eyes so he could see himself clearly in the mirror and see past the hairspray that fogged up the hotel bathroom. When he was finally satisfied, he set the bottle down on the counter and fixed his shirt, shutting the lights off and grabbing his coat from the rack. Peeking around the corner, Scout smiled over at Daniella. “How’s the hair? I need to make sure it’s nice in case we end up on TV,” he joked, performing a quick twirl for her to show himself off.
Daniella was walking around, trying her fastest to get ready because they only had so much time till the ball would drop. As Scout was heavily spraying his hair, she passed him, catching a few sprays in her mouth, sticking her tongue out in disgust and coughed. “Easy, tiger.” She chuckled, shaking her head. “Your hair looks greasy as hell now.” she lied, walking up to him, tiling her head. “You look handsome, like always.” She smiled before looking at herself in the mirror. Her hair was curled, much different from how it always was—straight and flat. She wore a classy red coat, a dress and tights underneath and high lengthen boots that came up to her knees. “And me?”
Scout gasped at her observation, and he ran his free hand through his hair, ruffling it up a bit. “Shit,” he muttered under his breath, but stopped after she had added a compliment on. “Oh, good,” Scout sighed in relief and proceeded to glance her up and down, his smile broadening. “You look amazing. Never thought I’d ever watch the ball drop in New York with a pretty girl,” he half-teased, nudging Daniella and then checking his watch. “Are you ready to leave?”
Daniella laughed at his split second of fright, actually afraid his hair looked bad. When he complimented her, she blushed, scrunching up her face. “Thanks, but you’re still, in the end, prettier than I am—and you know it.” She chuckled, before grabbing her things. “More then ready. Are you ready?” She asked, biting her bottom lip, while hiding a smile behind it.
Scout shrugged, pulling on his coat in the process. “I know I am, but sometimes I have to hide my own vanity to make other people feel good,” he played along, nodding to her question. “I’ve been ready since the first of January,” Scout stepped aside and pulled the door handle down, holding the door wide open for her and gesturing for Daniella to step out first. “Ladies first. Think about it — the next time we’re in Besame, it’ll be 2015.”
Daniella rolled her eyes at him. “Now I remember why I dumped you.” She chuckled, knowing they ended mutual, but wanted to push at his buttons. She smiled when he mentioned he was ready since the first of January. “That was only a day after you met me, idiot.” She laughed, thanking him before walking out of their hotel room. She somewhat cringed at the thought of it being 2015. “God, time flies. Remember your theory that the world would end right before it turned 2015 so we might not get to see the ball drop?”
Scout shook his head, wanting to disagree and argue that it was the other way around as a joke, but he decided not to even acknowledge it. “I know it was, but a part of me knew. It was a gut feeling,” he shut the door behind them and took a deep breath, gazing down the long hallway. “Did I say that? You never know, a meteor could hit during the countdown,” he smirked, beginning to walk down the narrow hall towards the elevator.
Daniella raised her brows, impressed with his reply. “Yeah, it’s probably something you’d say now too if I hadn’t of mentioned it. Yeah, yeah—” She waved off his crazy theory, chuckling. They made their way into the elevator, quickly pressing the lobby button, feeling the elevator fall down slowly. With a high pitched ring, the doors slid open, Daniella walked out while checking the time. “C’mon, we don’t have much time.”
Scout only smiled to himself, because he knew it was true. He stepped into the elevator after her and watched Daniella freak out over the time, while he casually followed behind her. “Calm down, crazy. We’ll be fine,” Scout reassured her while stepping outside the hotel, trying quickly to hail a taxi. “Do we have time to walk?” He looked over to her, then down the road, Times Square only a few blocks down from the hotel.
Daniella was a few feet ahead of him. Realizing he wasn’t directly behind her, she rolled her eyes, taking a few steps back and grabbed his wrist. “Scout, I’m serious! I want this to be memorable. I don’t want to bad spot—don’t you want to be on TV?” The last part was just hope that he’d want to get there sooner, too. She shook her head. “We can walk, don’t want to be stuck in traffic anything either—it’s New York, we’re talking about.” She said, letting go of his wrist, not realizing she continued to hold it. She started walking to him towards the crowd.
Scout gasped, a sudden rush of motivation hitting him. “Damn it. You’re right!” He quit trying to get a cab and instead began walking down the sidewalk, and didn’t take them long to reach Times Square. His eyes landed on the colorful ball in the sky, and he sighed in sight of the large crowd, filled with both families and couples. With a smirk, Scout glanced beside him and nudged Daniella. “You think we can make it near the front without getting lost?”
Daniella laughed as her attempt worked. When they made it, they were behind the huge crowd. “There’s about three minutes before the count down—hell yeah we can make it.” she winked at him, nodding. “Lead the way.” She said, nodding towards the crowd.
Scout took a deep breath and readied himself. He let it out quickly and grabbed hold of Daniella’s hand so not to lose her, proceeding to rush into the crowd. He tried not to be too aggressive, but he shoved past everyone until they were a reasonable distance from the foot of the crowd. When people had made some room for them, Scout held up a hand proudly for Daniella to high-five. “We’re the dream team,” he laughed softly, not realizing until now how cold New York actually was.
Daniella couldn’t help but laugh and giggle as Scout pushed their way through the crowd of people. People gave them glares, muttered profanities, but she didn’t care. She was too busy trying her best not to lose hold of his cold hand. When they made it to a reasonably good spot, her smile couldn’t be any wider. “We did it!” She squealed, high fiving him before throwing her arms around him, hugging him. “Only a few seconds left..” she said, pulling away, staring at the ball and counter.
Scout dropped his hand and turned to look up at the counter, the crowd around them beginning to count down verbally. He felt himself grow anxious, and he wasn’t sure why, since New Years was never something he was sober enough to enjoy. Scout glanced beside him to Daniella, and he bit his lip, his mind and heart practically in a war, but he tried to stay calm and keep his attention on the ball. His eyes were only tore off of Daniella when he heard cheering, shouting, and whooping, and he looked around to observe the numerous kisses being shared. Unconsciously, Scout turned to the girl beside him, and instead of wishing her a “Happy New Years!” he wrapped a single arm around her waist and pulled her closer, his second hand resting on her back for support after he placed his lips against hers without warning. He immediately regretted it, as it defeated the promise they made of no kiss and of only going as friends, but he didn’t pull away. He was positive that if he didn’t do this now, he’d regret it for weeks, or months, so he just let it happen.
Daniella: wow its a novel
Scout: sorry fam
Daniella was too busy smiling, staring at the ball and counter, listening to the people chant and count backwards. Finally, the clock striked midnight, the counter hitting zero, causing Daniella to throw her hands up and scream from the top of her lungs. “Happy New Year!” She clapped her hands, smiling and laughing, watching everyone in bliss, before she felt a pair of hands slide behind her, gripping her to their body—Scout. She was pressed up against his body due to his arm wrapped around her, his lips colliding with hers. Her eyes were wide as he kissed her, but she gave in, fluttering her eye shut as she passionately kissed him back, her hand finding his neck to deepen their kiss.
Scout only saw the ball drop out of the corner of his eyes, since he was too preoccupied not wanting to miss the opportunity of kissing her one last time. He tilted his head to one side after she had kissed him back, which gave him reassurance that she wasn’t weirded out by his sudden gesture. Scout allowed the kiss to last nearly the entire minute of the new year before he stepped away, his deep breath fogging up in the winter air, and he glanced down at the ground ashamedly. “I’ve been waiting all year to do that,” he admitted, slowly letting her go for good. “Happy New Year, Daniella.”
Daniella when he pulled away, she was breathing heavily, kissing him for so long she had forgotten to take a few breaths. She got off the tip of her toes, breaking away from his grasp as he let her go. She cleared her throat, stuffing her hands in her pockets. “Me too..” She admitted also, looking up at him and smiling faintly. “Happy New Year, big D.” Her smile gradually broadened into a large grin.
Scout nodded slowly, rocking back and forth while everyone continued to cheer around them, the fireworks and music also going off. He scratched the back of his neck nervously, but couldn’t help a grin after seeing her smile, which reassured him that it wasn’t terrible what he had done. “Superb. Yeah, you too, Little D,” he chuckled at the returning nick names, and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, mostly platonically. “What’s your New Years resolution?” He asked above the noise, watching the fireworks.
Daniella shrugged, wrapping her arm around his lower back. “To make new friends, to be grateful and show appreciation to all the wonderful things I have now, to go on that stupid Paris trip we have yet to take.” she chuckled, pausing before thinking of one more. “To be happy.” She turned to look at him, “And you?”
Daniella joined the chat 102 minutes ago
Scout , although his focus was on the fireworks, he still listened to her carefully. He had almost forgotten about Paris, and the trouble she went through to plan that trip, even though the point of even going was weaker now. “Yeah…” He thought about her last one, and he met her eyes, his smile slowly growing. “Can I steal your last one?”
Daniella laughed at him, before nodding. “Be my guest.”
