Olyvar’s eyes flicked up, watching the young woman who now stood in the doorway. He said nothing, kept his mouth shut. They knew his powers, knew he was helpless without speech. They had stopped gagging him now, but only after he had stopped speaking almost entirely.

After they had threatened to cut out his tongue.

Another lab rat? His savior? Or another come in to prod and poke, to test how far they could push him until he reached his limit?

He watched her uneasily, back against the wall, eyes flickering slightly. If she was unprepared...if she didn’t know any better...

This could mean his freedom.
