Even though Theta had sworn to stay on Earth, one thing that pulled him back to the stars was the TARDIS. She needed repairs and Theta wanted to see somewhere new. It was a win-win and gave him a genuine excuse to leave the planet.

Deciding to tempt fate, Theta allowed the TARDIS to choose their destination. After all, she knew exactly what she needed and where to find it. There he found himself at a port on a satellite for some planet in a system far away from Sol. From the constellations, Theta could tell he hadn't travelled too far. He was still within the Milky Way.

He stood by a stall, hands in his pockets as he gazed at the large gas giant the satellite orbited. Time passed by as he enjoyed the freedom of leaving Earth before a flash of red caught his eye.

Hell in high heels.

There he saw her, over by the loading bay. River Song.

Yet, he was an intruder on the universe and River was simply not his to be with. As Theta slowly backed away, his foot collided with scraps of metal discarded on the ground behind him. He turned in an attempt to steady himself but only managed to extend his arms to soften the blow of his fall as he knocked over the waste bin during his descent.

" not much of a party person, huh? " [ we need at least one to get started ]

“More of a drink until I forget I’m at a party kind of person,” Theta retorted, not even looking up at the young woman beside him. Typically young women who took an interest in him at this bar only wanted two things; a free drink or his wallet. 

Theta reached over the bar to take the entire bottle while simultaneously dropping some cash to stop the bar tender from complaining. 

“Give me an hour and I’ll forget you even asked that question.”

“Come on, quickly! Get up! We need to move!”

Theta had found another civilian caught in the crossfire. He didn’t give her the option to refuse before grabbing her wrist and yanking her towards him and away from the plasma bolts that soared over their heads. 

One thing that Theta was grateful for was the visor of his helmet covering his face. Right now he looked like an ordinary solider and not the Lord President. If the Daleks found out he was on site they would annihilate the town just to get to him. His armour was to protect those around him as well as himself. 

Another useful part was using it as a shield to protect this woman from any stray bullets, shrapnel, or plasma as he pushed her towards a vacant building to gain some cover.

"I know," he hummed, his eyes fading out of focus as his mind briefly wandered through flashes of the life he had before this. In the night on Earth, with mud up to his ankles. He was donned in high-ranking Time Lord military armor, shouting orders, fully aware that only half of the people around him would see the light of day come morning.

No, now wasn't the time to ponder on such things. His granddaughter popped in for a visit—a special treat. He was doing better; there was no need to allow dark thoughts to ruin such a nice catch up.

"I mean, you were a little troublemaker back in the day. Could have outdone me on pranks in the Academy," he quipped, a hint of pride in his voice.

eleven: “you had a nightmare. you were shouting.”

[STARTERS]

Theta awoke with a start, instinctively reaching for a weapon that thankfully was stored away. In the few milliseconds where he gathered his surroundings, Theta struggled to differentiate the room they were currently in from that of his dream.

"What are you doing in my office?!" he demanded, before the change of scenery indicated he was away from the war. He was safe. Well, safe enough. More importantly, his family was safe. With a sigh, Theta dropped his aggressive act and sat back on his chair.

"Yeah, well try and have them before you complain about the shouting," he gruffed in response, looking away. Theta couldn't help but feel awkward around Eleven. Not only did he nod off like an old man, but apparently he was shouting. Great...
