Note: I want to make more in depth posts about certain characters and episodes soon, but for now, enjoy this mess of a post!
OKAY. Time to be incredibly biased but here are my thoughts on the She Ra (the reboot):
First hearing about it, I wasn't exactly excited. The animation seemed a bit boring to me and it didn't seem like a show I would be interested in (it being called She Ra and the Princesses of Power) though, BOY I WAS WRONG.
I did actually make a post on this account BEFORE the show was released, as @Nessarin said it looked pretty cool, and I was like "Why not?" Still not knowing whether I would like it or not, but I was more enticed than before because of the clips and pictures of the show, which made me more excited to meet characters like Bow and learn more about Catra and Adora's relationship.
Surprisingly I didn't binge the show (only because I had exams coming up) but as soon as I watched the first episode - I was hooked. Hooked on the world, the characters, the story, the art. I love the general aesthetic of the show and attention to detail about small things.
It was NEVER like this with a show like v*ltron, in fact I was fairly disinterested with it at first, on my phone through most of the first episode I recall.
But with She Ra I found myself so much more drawn to the characters, finding them a lot more likable and multifaceted, more human. It was a strong first episode which used the perfect touch of comedy and dramatic irony, but also making that dramatic irony into a serious almost sad thing. The fact Adora didn't know all the harm the horde were causing felt so innocent and just... pure. And even despite the contrasts in Catra and her they hold such strong bond. I got this all from just the first episode. It's astounding really. All the relationships and friendships in the show were developed fairly well too, especially the Glimmer, Bow and Adora's friendship.
It's fair to say, my low expectations were smashed out the park and from there I felt new expectations be met again and again.
DON'T EVEN GET STARTED ON THE DIVERSITY. It was one of the most diverse shows I've ever watched, and that's no overstatment that's for sure.
I am so in love with the show, that as of this moment, I'm blind to any possible negatives. I am not one to nitpick anyway, but there is little to criticize on the story or characters that made me enjoy the show any less.
Swift wind returning three me off though as he was basically irrelevant until needed as a plot device again though - but I get it. And he's cool af. (Idk this isn't a criticism but I noticed it and was kinda like, tha fuck?)
ANYWAY, I could talk for hours about this, but to summarise: I loved She Ra And the Princesses Of Power A LOT. In my opinion, I see little to criticize about the show as it's just a ray of gay and inclusion with a great story and great characters, season 2 needs to be out NOW.
