Stupid, sexy Flanders!
The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos + the consequences of killing your enemy vs. the consequences of not killing them...
The Doctor telling Graham that if he kills Tzim-Sha, he's no better than him - which is such a typical Good Guy phrase, it's very in character for the Doctor. This version of good, which is (as Missy said so well) vain, arrogant, and sentimental. It's more about keeping your conscience clean, about staying perfectly innocent, than about what would actually be the best thing to do. (And of course, the Doctor approving of the stasis chamber decision is a typical case of them thinking eternal torture is acceptable when killing isn't - see the Family of Blood.)
And as a direct opposite of that, we've got Tzim-Sha telling the Doctor everything he did was because of her. Because she let him live, because she instilled the thirst for revenge in him. Which gives us banger lines like "What happened to you?"-"You did" and "You gave me my destiny" - once again a very typical thing, a recurring theme. The Doctor only wanting to do the right thing, but indirectly causing destruction time and time again. People turning into soldiers, into monsters, either out of love or hate for the Doctor. And this is the first time she has to face this as Thirteen.
So none of this is completely new- it's part of an ongoing discussion of (the Doctor's) morality. But i don't remember these two aspects being set against each other like this before. And it's great.
Because Graham ends up deciding to be "the better man", but what if Tzim-Sha is freed one day and starts targeting entire civilisations again?
