Okay, so, now that I've calmed down (haha— NOT) I would like to point out a few things.
NUMERO UNO— Dat golden haired little shit is aLIVE (possibly this whole time) and has brought with him a whole new level of possibilities both for the show and for the boys. Once Gabe busts out of Colonel Sanders less than subpar chicken slaughter house, he can show everyone just why you don't want to mess with the Trickster.
We're gonna have our Uncle Gabriel/Jack meet and greet and exchanging of sweets and tricks because he'll yeah Gabe is going to corrupt his little nephew (in the pure, hilarious way) while driving Dean up the fucking wall.
NUMERO DOS— In an earlier episode, we watched as Sam lost his hope and faith, the weight of his life and the events come to pass becoming to much to bear, and the truth of how deep his trauma went and get a glimpse into the darker parts of his time in the cage. Usually, this would be a time to talk to someone about it, but (aside from Rowena) there isn't anyone who really gets it.
Then, low and behold, Gabriel comes back. Beaten and bloodied, obviously tortured for fuck knows how long, and possibly in the same boat as Sam. Together they might be able to help each other out, and possibly understand a little better than their brother's could.
Our little Sabriel hearts are pounding, many to different thoughts than what my addled and tired brain cooked up. But fuck, let us s a i l.
NUMERO TRES—A THEORY— Say Gabriel has been alive this whole time, say that he fucked off and went even deeper underground after Hammer of the Gods. Where did he go? Earth was a shitfest at the time, the pagans had made him, and Hell and purgatory weren't an option. The only logical explanation for this?
Heaven.
NO ONE would think to look there, and why would they? Gabriel left, dead, back again, a coward and a traitor to heavens eyes, then dead again. And honestly, at the time, they were more worried about angels sneaking out of Heaven than they were in, so no one would have noticed a (possibly) injured archangel sneaking in for refuge. And since Michael was wacked out planning dooms day, and Raphael helping, they weren't paying attention to the home front. Plus, it is one of my HC's that Gabriel knows all the little ins and outs of Heaven, all the paths and secret paths and all that. How else would he have gotten out without trouble? Maybe he hid somewhere, possibly his old corner, until it was safe to start moving about or was healed?
Then that brings me to the tail end of my theory. Gabriel was in heaven when the gates were shut. Gabriel fell with the others (maybe not as hurt but still weakened). AND METATRON KNEW THIS WHEN THE FALL HAPPENED.
He performed the spell, he knew when the last of the angels fell. HE WOULD HAVE FELT IT IF GABRIEL HAD BEEN EJECTED TO BECAUSE HELLO? ARCHANGEL!
AND! When that happened, and when Metatron realized that his siblings were a livelier bunch than white walls, he knew that he couldn't just approach them as is, and that they were looking for a leader. Who better than Gabriel?
I think Metatron DID also have Gabriel's Horn, which he probably took when he stole his face (c'mon, how else would Metadouche have known what Gabriel's vessel looked like?) and used this moment of weakness to keep Gabriel under lock and key. How long Gabriel was like this, I don't know. Maybe after Metatron was killed he got loose, but was still weak when Colonel Sanders nabbed him?
IN CONCLUSION— Gabe is back and ready to kick ass, the Nougat Child will meet his Candy Uncle, Sabriel fans just got a heaping helping of hope and Sabriel fics and fan art numbers are gonna fuck EXPLODE, Colonel Sanders is a fried dick, we are possibly going to get another Gabriel/Lucifer match, Gabriel has been held captive for a long ass time, and the writers are both angels and sadists.
