Thoughts on the newest episode
I really enjoyed the addition of sound effects in the introductions. That was a great way to introduce how silly this episode was going to be, along with Will's Seinfeld music. Overall, this episode was one of the funniest ones of this season, and I laugh-cried my way through the whole hour. It was a nice breath after the heaviness that was episode 31. I'm really excited for next time to see what's in Goofs Realm and also see what's next for Normal and Hermie.
To me, this whole episode reminded me of the failed attempt to hotbox the red brands in season 1. It's like, here's this great big elaborate plan, that doesn't sound like it's going to work to begin with, and then ultimately fails in a really hilarious way. While I'm sure some people are going to be upset that we spent a whole episode on a plan that failed, I loved every minute of it.
So, there are a few moments that I want to call out.
1. Linc calls May Hales, so I wonder if she passes this information on to the kiddads. That would be interesting, considering Willie's comment about them. I'm just really curious what they're up to after the whole debacle with the whale.
2. Jungle 2 Jungle is not a movie that I have thought about in a long time. But I do remember watching it when I was about 10. It was not a reference I was expecting.
3. As a person who lived nearby San Dimas for a very long time, it is not a big city, and does not have big buildings. It is very very much in the suburbs of LA. Can confirm with Freddie's Google mapping.
4. There's so much world building with all the doodlerized people, and even the FBI (I'm confused at this point about whether it's the real FBI or the false FBI, or if both exist???) and it's interesting to have in the background, but I wonder where all of this is going and even if it's all going to resolve itself in some way. Because if they get rid of the doodler, that's not going to magically unswap the realms or necessarily fix everything.
And now some thoughts on Willy. And man do I always seem to have a lot of thoughts on Willy.
Willie is just such an asshole. There's always something that he does in these interactions that makes me uncomfortable or cringe because of just how horrible of a human being he is. Even in this episode full of laughs.
Also, Linc comes up with this whole plan to have the kids get replaced with actual corpses to trick Willy. But there's no way that the mayor at this point is not going to share that Scary and her friends attacked. I am super worried about how Willy is going to react to all of this. I've been worried about Scary for a while, but I have a feeling things are going to get worse instead of better. At least with regards to Willy. I'm still over here crossing my fingers about her mental state improving.
