Tor "skydives, on fire, off a flying city, entirely by accident, giving an inordinate lack of fucks" Kajan
Solaris: but schazer what about the yaois
Schazer: Sol go kill Velobo
Schazer: then I will give you yaois enough to blot out the sun
TheFoot: :
Schazer: the brolar eclipse
Solaris: trading velobo's life for yaois sounds good
Pharmacy: hmm I guess since everyone is making solaris cry
Pharmacy: I should make him cry too
* Pharmacy: pores over roster to see what personal character she should subject to infinite cruelty
Sanzh: maybe we need someone to volunteer to string him along with cheerful things?
Pharmacy: lame
Schazer: dibs not
Slorange: I'd try, but
Slorange: The only battle I'm in him with I just finished having character's current idol become a murderer in front of him
Slorange: It'd seem disingenuous
Schazer: who the actual fuck would idolise Jetsam
Slorange: No I meant Dokuromets
Slorange: Jetsam is his current crush~
Pharmacy: doki doki
Sanzh: jetsam-sam
Sanzh: jetsma
Pharmacy: dracodaki
Sanzh: jetsama
VELOBO'S BEST FRIEND
Sollie calm down I only had a short break from work before I had to head back
Your (two >:I) questions and Sanzh's give me a chance to cover a fair bit of history, the sort that I wouldn't really have a good chance to shoehorn into the thread's narrative proper, so here goes.
Jetsam's inability to keep a straight face between locations is not the result of natural wear and tear, nor was it caused by mismanaged travel between universes by the Apprentice. During the time Jetsam was the aforementioned's plaything, the two could have narratives or arguments spanning numerous universes and about forty human years from Jetsam's perspective, all without the two actually saying anything to each other. This usually took the form of petulant rebellion on Jetsam's part, and some kind of heavy-handed symbolic punishment in where the Apprentice would pick him up and drop him off next. During this time, the Apprentice would throw a few curveballs but mostly stick to locations where his being an adult Homo sapiens in itself wasn't reason enough to get lynched.
At some point or another, Jetsam really managed to get his captor thinking he was cruising for a bruising, because the next stop was about as inhospitable as it got. The place in question had no up down, direction, or even anything solid, the place was some kind of cloud-minds infinite hotbox full of amorphous native entities. These guys found Jetsam and his whole being tangible and having a whole bunch of different experiences to them utterly fascinating, so, for lack of a better word, they shared. They rifled through his memories with little resistance, passed them round, and were confused in a sad sort of way when he didn't appreciate whatever memories they shared with him. Jetsam's physical senses weren't giving him shit at this juncture, and he was left to suffer until some point when somebody decided he'd learnt his lesson, and sent him packing somewhere else.
Jetsam wouldn't have noticed that whatever he looked like now was whatever reconstruction of his own appearance he could make from his diluted, disorganised, fragmented memories. He was physiologically capable of curling into the foetal position and crying it out, so he did that instead.
He's never really been the same since. He knows that his long-term memory is extremely patchy, with anything prior to the incident being like a regular adult trying to perfectly recall their pre-five years childhood. That includes details of his original life. Including his kids' names.
That really scares him.
(This is also why he reacts so violently to mental manipulation, and why he's got a deathwish for Tengeri now)
