You may remember me from my Dangerous Visions Reviews where I review some books on his recommendation, and I have to weigh whether it’s OK to write a Negative Review, since Dangerous Visions is used as a venue for writing them. So now when I recommend books, I think through the potential consequences, and I always ask the question, “does this thing in question attract Negative Reviews at the rate that I might want Negative Reviews in real life?”

Yeah, pretty much. And I do not think of myself as being on the spectrum, at least not for sure, but stuff like this is part of what makes me wonder, because I used to get it constantly, and not just from Worst Person (who is kind of a special case as far as shittiness goes)

And while I've gotten much better at not producing these responses in the last few years, a lot of it has been through things I've internally thought of as "if I don't talk/behave this way, people will not say the things I hate, for some reason." A lot of what separates me from Old Rob is just picking up rules of thumb that I still don't quite actually "get"

Also: I should clarify that not all of that post is about Worst Person, in fact some of it is very specifically about people other than her. But it's a composite of people who share some important traits

Thanks -- I'm not actually doing that badly at all, it's just been a weird day and my mind is going to defiant other-critical places rather than self-critical places as a result, which is really kind of a relief

jotaro is almost worth it for how Star Platinum constantly looks like someone just called him a "buttface" and his honor has been challenged. just this perpetual silent look of "i can't BELIEVE you just did that" as he's punching stuff repeatedly in the everything

why couldn't star platinum be the protagonist and have jotaro be HIS magic mute spirit pokemon thing. that way we wouldn't have to deal with him opening his mouth and trying to make sneering misogyny a running gag

(i love this dumb show though, oh my god. it's absolute testosterone-fueled nonsense trying its damnedest to be really mind-blowing and clever and it's impossible to tell the difference between it succeeding and failing. absolutely amazing)
