In Analysis of Cork-Based Networking, it always seemed weird to me that the Save Greendale Committee was planning the midterm dance instead of the dean. Planning dances and events was the dean’s favorite thing to do, so it’s weird that he wasn’t involved at all. I wonder if he was hiding after Troy left because he was so sad? He was always extremely invested in the study group, and Troy leaving ripped a hole in their family that they couldn’t repair. Maybe he felt bad for being so sad, especially with everything Abed must have been feeling, so he stayed out of sight instead.

The only times we see him in this episode are when he’s talking to Annie and Hickey and when he comes after Hickey with security when he hangs the bulletin board. Neither scene is quite in character for him. The dean doesn’t do his actual job hardly ever, if at all. It seems like he’s doing something similar to Abed: he’s playing the part of what he thinks other administrators are like. He’s hardly in this episode, but I still have a lot of feelings about him.
