I just found out that in this scene:

Dean apparently was supposed to say "I love you" instead of "I need you" but jensen thought that "I need you" would fit better because dean doesn't often talk about his feelings and i kinda agree but it is killing me that he was actually supposed to say "I love you" i mean how am i supposed to recover from knowing that we could have had this in season 8.

Thank you to battingpractice on Twitter for the script excerpt, and fandomdebunker and spnscripthunt for their work! I’m not tracking down whether their sources are original and first and still available, but I appreciate fandom providing and sharing information, and again I referenced the Supernatural Wiki episode transcript.

Am I respecting the creators’ intent by leaving in the actual dialogue instead of replacing it whole sale with the original script? Am I changing the meaning of the originally scripted lines by changing their placement, or just playing to my amateur video editing skills? Is the supposed meaning of the originally scripted lines preserved because the replacing dialgue is kept? You can decide on those as well as how you interpret this. 

But no matter what, Cas deserved to be told, “I love you.”
