Jessica Jones Kicks Off New Series of Adult Crime Novels from Hyperion Avenue and Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics has announced a new Marvel Crime fiction series for adults from Hyperion Avenue, an imprint of Disney Publishing Worldwide. The first novel in the series is Breaking the Dark: A Jessica Jones Marvel Crime Novel from Lisa Jewell. Later novels in the Marvel Crime series will include characters Luke Cage, written by S.A. Cosby, and Daredevil, written by Alex Segura.
Ike tried to remember a time when men with badges coming to his door early in the morning brought anything other than heartache and misery, but try as he might nothing came to mind.
Razorblade Tears by SA Cosby
I’m currently away for work, these are the books I brought with me. A wide variety to say the least 😆
(I actually bought South of the Border, West of the Sun on a day off, I told myself I wouldn’t buy any more while I had unread books at home, but I figured it doesn’t count because it’s short lol)
I'll read any book SA Cosby writes because his books are good BUT it is very appealing when books make references to each other or have characters make cameos. It's the extended SCLU (SA Cosby Literary Universe) (once razorblade tears gets a movie it'll be the cinematic universe too)
“The funny thing is, if my boy was here, he’d feel sorry for you. If his son was here he’d probably forgive you,” Ike said. Buddy Lee opened his knife. It clicked as he locked the blade in place.
“But they ain’t here, are they?” Buddy Lee asked.
“No, they ain’t,” Ike said.
Razorblade Tears
Finished SA Cosby’s All The Sinners Bleed. Found the page where they talked about how people who followed religion were twisting the word. Here are three of the quotes:
“Titus could remember one social studies teacher who had said without a hint of compunction that Black people were cursed to be slaves by the word of God.”
“The Word is perfect, but the way men interpret it is corrupt.”
This one annoyed me. This thinking protects faith while blaming human failure. it shields religion from accountability. If harm occurs in the name of faith, responsibility is shifted onto individuals rather than the structure itself. Harmful teachings, exclusion, or silence during injustice can always be dismissed as “misinterpretation.” This creates a cycle where religion remains untouched, while people bear the burden of its consequences.
But also who deems what is corrupt form of interpretations? It made me come to this same belief as Titus did.
“…he realized the Word was just as corrupt as the men who read it.”
