My town has an open bookshelf and since I had to go out on an errant, I took two of the books I want to rehome to drop them of there. The rule is actually take one, leave one but since some people seem to drop of half a shelf, nobody cares. You either find no books you'd care to read or way too many. It was the latter today. =)

If they don't cast Peter Capaldi as Frollo, there is still Cardinal Richelieu. (I haven't seen the series, yet.)

He is physically great as Richelieu, yes. And I have no doubt that he’s superbly charismatic, as well. Inexcusably, I also have not yet seen the BBC’s take on the musketeers, much as I love that quartet of dramatic disaster men.

Have you ever seen a Monte Christo adaption? If so, which one? Liked it?

No, not yet! And I’m determined not to, not until I finished the book. There was a really tempting one, an anime with really gorgeous, weird visuals called Gankutsuou. That’s gonna be the first one I watch when I’ve read the book.

Cool. Hast du so etwas wie eine Anleitung? Ich bin eine Niete in Handarbeiten, aber so einige Bücher von mir verbringen viel Zeit in Taschen. 

I do not have proper instructions but pretty much made it up as I went along. I started with this video as inspiration, then I tried different sizes and ended up with a base of 8x13 inches* (this fits most YA hardcovers, you can go smaller for paperbacks). I shortened the front two pieces (inside and outside) by 1.5-2 inches (i.e. the inner and outer piece are squares with 8x11 inches) and cut the corners of the back pieces to about 1.5 inches to make the flap less bulky. I  made a sketch, which I hope is helpful. If not, do not hesitate to ask again :-)

(*normally I use the metric system, but all my patchwork rulers are in inches and they are just so practical ...)

Hi! I have a question about Mystery. I'm somewhat curious about the game and I would like to try it. I'm a Slytherin and would play as a Slytherin (no matter how I end up in Slytherin). Goes this game along the old lines of "all Slytherins are evil racist purebloods" or is there nuance? Will other students act like Slytherins are all evil? Will the teacher act this way? (If this spoils anything, please answer privately.) Thank you!

I’m playing as Hufflepuff and I don’t think Justin plays that much, but from this end, it’s not quite ALL Slytherins are evil, but it doesn’t necessarily show Slytherins in good light. The main antagonist is a Slytherin, very Malfoy-ish but dammit I’m going to make her my friend. In year three, I’ve been introduced to two other Slytherin characters, one of whom is pretty all right and who I think will get more interesting as time goes on. The other is pretty awful.

Snape hates your character regardless of the house, but I think as long as you do “well” in lessons, the other teachers like you.
