Hi, everyone. I’ve got a pretty big favor to ask of y’all.

So, as some of you already know, I recently moved to Taiwan to teach English as a second language. It’s super exciting! It’s something I’ve been dreaming about for years now! There’s a problem, though. Because the cost of living in Taiwan is so much lower than in the US, my new job is going to make me a fair bit less money than my old job. Plus I’ll be living on my own, so I’m gonna be responsible for paying bills and stuff for the first time.

Now, that on its own is fine; my salary is perfectly capable of sustaining a decent life here. But what if, say, I’m also paying a big chunk of money every week for an artist to bring my dream webcomic to life on top of those expenses?

So yeah, long story short: I need to start making more money off of Patreon. My new job’s salary, on its own, likely won’t be enough to cover both my living expenses and my artist’s salary. Either I’ll continuously be losing money the entire time I’m in Taiwan (I have a pretty sizable cushion, but it won’t last forever), or I’ll have to reduce what I’m paying my artist. And as difficult as that first option would be, I really, really, really don’t want to take the second option. Mac’s Ink has been a joy to work with from the very beginning; I cannot say enough good things about his output and work ethic. And the salary I pay him is a huge boon to his own living expenses. I already worry I’m not paying him enough for all he does, and I desperately don’t want to reduce that any further. But I may be forced to if my Patreon can’t get enough support.
