@saboace-week Day 7: Free Legend
There's a myth as old as time of a great and terrible dragon who terrorized villages and travelers in the southern mountains. One year, not long ago, he vanished. It was said a king had slain him but it cost him the life of his first born son. The story, however, maybe rewritten with new facts if you dare to venture up the highest peak and learn of the prince's fate for yourself...
@saboace-week Day 3: Ledgend
Not the one I wanted to post for today but oh well. How to train your boyfriend's dragon.
Edits of a couple of official artworks for the free day of the current event @saboace-week. These give off a summer vibe rather than a spring one, but still. :P

(TIDES side stories) 2. Recollection That morning, Ace woke up with a strange feeling. Yawning, he stretched and looked around, his vision still blurry. Given the amount of light filtering from the window it probably was just past dawn. Ace laid back on his bed and tried to remember his dream; besides, it was still too early for his daily training session… Training! Ace remembered now: he’d been dreaming about when he had accepted to train Sabo… So many years had passed since then! Ace’s first impression of him had been of a weak and annoying brat, but later he discovered that Sabo was from a Goa noble family: that explained why Sabo hadn’t been able to take care of himself at first even if he was more knowledgeable than him. And brassier. Sabo didn’t give a shit about etiquette and other nobles’ nonsense, and Ace wondered if he still despised his origins or if he had come to terms with them. Ace had never really hated his own father despite the rude way he talked about him, so he didn’t know how his brother felt in that regard either: he just recalled that Sabo resented his family. They were similar in some respects, but Sabo’s thoughts had always been hard to read… Over the years, Ace had come to the conclusion that Sabo (or at least, the Sabo he remembered) was like an extreme version of himself—especially when it came to anger. Unlike his own sudden but short-timed outbursts, Sabo’s wrath was colder and definitely more dangerous. Usually though, Sabo’s role had been the “calm brother” one in charge of stopping him whenever blood rushed to his head. And in the end, Sabo had sacrificed himself for his and Luffy’s sake. Ace had never forgotten the letter Sabo had sent to him. “Protect Luffy for me too,” Sabo had asked him, and Ace had sworn to himself to fulfill his wish. In his last moments, after saying goodbye to Luffy, his very last thoughts had been for Sabo. Feeling his life burning out, Ace had wondered if Sabo would consider him a good older brother, and then everything had gone black. He hadn’t really died though, and soon he would be able to see his brothers again. “Our bond is my greatest treasure” Sabo had also written in his letter, and Ace shared the same sentiment. Smiling, he got out of bed, made for the window, and then opened it to let the sun come in. (Part 1 | Part 3 | Part 4)
Written for the "Dreams” prompt for the current event @saboace-week. Canon/platonic relationship, Ace dreams about his first meeting with Sabo and recalls memories from his childhood: this part is maybe closer to a character study than to an actual story, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway! This is the second part of a collection of one shots that also work as side stories of "Tides", my OP Big Bang fanfic. I won't publish these one shots in their chronological order, but following the prompts order. Then, in the future I'm going to collect all of them in a single file and publish it too.

(TIDES side stories) 4. Déjà vu “Do you think he’ll wake up soon?” Ace looked up at Sabo’s worried face, and then back at Luffy. “Probably,” he replied, thoughtful. He had a déjà vu feeling: the first time he had talked with Sabo since waking up from his coma, Luffy had been recovering after a fight too. They remained silent for a while. Then, Sabo jumped up from his chair and started stretching his arms and legs. “Do you still have so much energy?” Ace told him, yawing. “Are you still tired, big brother?” Sabo smirked as he kept exercising. “I’m just a few months older than you.” Ace yawned again. “And you fell asleep a couple of times last night.” “That’s not true!” “You didn’t even notice.” Ace chuckled. “It happens to me too.” “Then, how can you be sure you didn’t fall asleep too?” Sabo was swinging his pipe around now. He had a point, so Ace simply replied, “I don’t know, but Luffy will be fine so calm down and stop fidgeting with that thing.” “I’m training for our sparring competition!” “It looks like you’re just venting.” Ace smirked, but again he felt a déjà vu and his smile dropped a little. “What’s wrong?” “I… remembered something from when I was still a kid,” Ace replied reluctantly. Sabo sat down with crossed legs in front of him and asked, “Tell me.” Ace looked away, mildly embarrassed. He would rather not share that particular memory with him, but he knew his brother wouldn’t let that go. “Ok,” he said with a sigh. At least, Sabo would probably stay still for a while… --- Ace had made up his mind. He wouldn’t do anything rash. He wouldn’t go after that damned Celestial Dragon who had killed Sabo. He wouldn’t fight—for now. Instead, he would stay next to Luffy and protect him. Ace had one crystal-clear thought in his mind: he couldn’t die. If he died too, who would look after his little brother? The first month was the hardest. Ace constantly thought of his lost brother, and how he hadn’t done enough to try and save him. Each time he felt regret reaching dangerous limits, he practised with his metal pipe. However, that only made things worse: Sabo had chosen a pipe as his own weapon too, and Ace had been the one teaching him how to fight with it… --- “I blamed myself for what happened to you countless times,” Ace said, concluding his story. “Why didn’t I try to save you when you were taken away? Why didn’t I do anything? We could have grown up together... all the three of us.” Ace looked down, and after a moment he felt Sabo’s hand on his shoulder. “Remember what you told me a while ago?” Ace nodded but didn’t say anything. “You told me that it’s useless to think of the past and that we should look forward to the future instead.” Ace glanced at Luffy’s peaceful sleeping face. “I know… and we need to do that for our little brother too.” “That’s the right spirit!” Sabo jumped up again, but when he took his pipe Ace grabbed it too and pulled him back. “Even if I know that,” Ace murmured, looking up at him, “I wish there was a way to travel back in time… a way to make up for the lost time.” “We can still do the latter.” Sabo grinned. “So stop the gloomy talk—oh, look: he’s awake.” “Sabo... Ace...” Luffy whispered, smiling. That chased away Ace’s sadness. “We’re here, little brother,” he and Sabo said together. And we’re here to stay, Ace thought as tears filled his eyes. Written for the "Time Travel” prompt for the current event @saboace-week. Here the relationship between Ace and Sabo is pretty much the canon one, but can be interpreted as platonic love too. ^^ This is the forth (and final) part of a collection of one shots that also work as side stories of "Tides", my OP Big Bang fanfic. I won't publish these one shots in their chronological order, but following the prompts order. Then, in the future I'm going to collect all of them in a single file and publish it too.
