I've never cosplayed at a con as homestuck so I've never experienced such behavior first hand. But I know that to me, as a homestuck myself, there is no excuse. At sac this year we, homestuck, were represented as dirty loud mouthed insubordinates, annoying, and stubborn. Which is exactly what we were. Now I don't usually pay mind or even notice the fandom hate homestuck receives most of the time, but this one I just couldn't let pass by. I am a full blown active member of this fandom, I submit fan art, and even voice act characters from the web comic as well. Homestuck is a big part of my life I can't find a way to not enjoy the adventure. So when given negativity it usually just blows right past me because, I remind myself how patient you have to be to enjoy the comic. With giga-pause and silly antics and what not. It's not for everyone and that's okay. If I had gone to sac, and seen the homestucks, I would have said something to them as well. We are lucky cons are even held for us all, you can cosplay what ever you'd like to nobody says no, you can BE whoever you want to be, and everyone will see you as that. It's a privilege. Respect is something somebody has as themselves. If you are loud and disrespectful that is your character as your own. No matter what cosplay. No matter what fandom. Homestuck. Spn. Hetalia. All in the same. You are still you underneath the gray paint. That being said, blame the persons for their behaviour, not the fandom. Because there are some really beautiful and respectable people in homestuck as well. Talented artists. Talented actors. Even orchestra can you believe that? There are best friends and distant lovers..young and bright and mature and wise. People that can create something so beautiful and contribute such emotion and pure accuracy to bring another to tears on the spot. Characters with greed. Characters with justice. Characters with love and hate so strong it transcends across universes. That is homestuck in my eyes.. Not this. Thank you.

I'm so tired of seeing more reasons why I should be embarrassed to be a fan of Homestuck. The way the fandom acted at Sac is disgraceful and I'm not sure I even want to be associated with it anymore. Homestuck got me through so much and was my passion. I love making the cosplay and meeting people who love it as much as I do.

Although, lately I've been hearing more and more about the fandom acting up and making everybody's lives hard at cons. I can't believe the fandom I love is giving itself a worse rep then it already has.

I'm not saying everyone who loves Homestuck is awful. Obviously I'm a Homestuck and I'm just as upset as everyone else. But i disapointed in the ones who ruin it for the mature part of the fandom. I'm just really disapointed.

But sadly, it's bigger than this. To cospayers as a whole, we (the homestuck fandom) are the ones who look bad. BUT imagone how we look outside of the cosplay community. To everyone else who is not part of the cosplay commmunity and dont know the difference, who do you think looks bad in their eyes? 

All cosplayers. 

So good job. You did not just give Homestuck a bad rep, you gave all cosplayers a bad rep. I hope you had a good time at sac, because if this keeps up, Homestuck is going to get run out of every con.

Dinnerstuck SacAnime S14 Feeler

Hello Sacstucks!

Due to irl circumstances, I very likely am not going to SacAnime this summer (which I'm sad about :[). However, I would like to keep alive the tradition of hosting Dinnerstuck events the Sunday evening of con. It's a fun tradition, and tends to be a popular event, so I'd like to see it happen, even if I can't make it myself.

As I will likely be back for the winter con, I am wondering if someone would like to take over running Dinnerstuck this summer. I am willing to give you my planning notes and tips on what I have found works and what doesn't, though you'd obviously have control over running it the way you wanted.

If anyone is interested, please shoot me an ask and we can chat. :]
