Tomb Raider Sacred Artifacts #4 showed us someone familiar!!!
So in case you haven't been following Tomb Raider, the new comic run, Sacred Artifacts, just released it's fourth and final issue today, and hooooo boy I've got something to yap about with all of you!!
SO! The run was great, just getting that out of the way. They nailed the adventure feel and the way Lara is written feels consistent with both Survivor AND Legend/Underworld, which we now know takes place after Survivor and Classic.
SPOILERS BELOW
At the end of the fourth issue, Lara is having lunch with Winston and her friends.
The friends include Carter Bell from the "Lara Croft and the" spinoff games, Zip, Anaya Imanu from "Tomb Raider Legend", and Winston from the classic games and Legend/Underworld.
BUT! Did you catch it? There's a sixth person in the group that isn't fully shown.
I believe, in the last shot with everyone silhouetted, from left to right there is: someone, Carter, Zip, Lara, Anaya, and Winston
Who is the mystery person? Let's focus in on them specifically.
I am confident that this is the one and only SAMANTHA NISHIMURA!!!
From the second picture it looks as if she may have cut her hair short, but she still has the same skin tone, same hair colour, and distinctive swoosh of her bangs in the front, see here (source Tomb Raider 2013):
Furthermore, this is supposed to be a lunch date between Lara and people she already has established friendships with. We've seen every other person in the group in a different piece of Tomb Raider media, so I don't think it would make sense for this to be a new character we've never seen before. Especially considering it looks SO MUCH like Sam, AND the fact they brought back Sam in the Netflix Series "The Legend of Lara Croft" where the showrunners went out of their way to show Lara and Sam reconnecting after not having spoken to each other for some time.
So yeah!! Sam is still in Lara's life even this far into the Unified timeline and after the events of the upcoming Legacy of Atlantis, the classic games and Legend/Underworld!! Here's hoping she makes a full return in Tomb Raider: Catalyst!!
