Founded by Godric Gryffindor, this house favors students with courage, chivalry, and daring. These traits can even border on recklessness and other houses sometimes feel that Gryffindors engage in "pointless heroics" and receive an unfair favoritism at times. Despite this reputation, the heroes of the Harry Potter septet prove themselves to be honorable, just, and willing to go as far as it takes to ensure the safety of the wizarding world. Founded by Rowena Ravenclaw, this house has students who are often academically motivated, prizing wit, wisdom, and intelligence. Members of Ravenclaw house can be fiercely competitive among themselves in academic success, but generally accept and celebrate one another's quirks and unusual intellectual interests. Luna Lovegood and Sybill Trelawney are notable examples of this type of eccentric Ravenclaws, and Garrick Ollivander is one with a particular focus of tight study as he revolutionized the process of wand crafting. Founded by Helga Hufflepuff, this house has a policy of accepting any student and is often the most misunderstood. However, many influential wizards have come from Hufflepuff, including Newt Scamander, of the upcoming film trilogy, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” It is also noteworthy that Hufflepuff has produced the fewest number of dark wizards of any Hogwarts house, and was second only to Gryffindor in the number of students willing to stay and fight in defense of their school at the Battle of Hogwarts.
