urasawa’s name game #1: it’s interesting how sadakiyo gets called sadakiyo-sensei by the administrations of friend-controlled schools. it’s a nonsensical name, a combination of his status as an employed adult man and his childhood nickname. it’s not only that he can’t grow up, traumatized and isolated and finding comfort in his childhood interests — he’s not allowed to grow up.
friend makes sure that he will stay a child forever, at least through his name, and thus will always be subject to his childish tyranny.
(and, i believe, the friend museum serves the same purpose — never letting him escape the world of his childhood)
