I just started rereading fear and I was delighted by the numerous references like: "it was sam's job. so edilio did it" and I find that hilarious. like, these kids probably think of sam and edilio as a package deal, as one and the same. any task that falls to sam also, by default, falls to edilio. have a problem? tell either. can't find one? just look for the other. true parents of the fayz.

here's a dynamic we don't talk about enough: sam, edilio, and brianna. brianna is literally their demon child. they both try so hard to keep her under control and she is not having it. but also they all love each other, y'know? my favorite found family dynamic in the series (especially if you throw dekka my beloved in there)

Sam rested his head on Edilio’s shoulder comfortably, fingers intertwined with his. The two were lying back on the sand of the beach, just when the sun had barely set. Despite what was going on around them, they were finally able to relax. Things felt alright for the first time in forever.

A smile graced Sam’s features as he thought about it. Taking a break was serving him well (although he was more than likely going to be scolded for it), and it almost soothed the intense migraine he had gotten earlier.

Edilio squeezed his hand. Sam turned, looking at him. It was like the angels were smiling upon the Earth when Edilio looked the way he did, Sam felt. A truly god-like gift.

"We should head back now," he murmured to Sam.

"Yeah, we should."

Neither of them moved for the next half hour.
