Coffee & Gossip || Elise & Jamie
The halls were silent, although light was streaming through the windows as she climbed the stairs. I suppose the only good thing about this 'situation' is that they cancelled classes... she thought as she emerged on the third floor. She'd only been a student for a few weeks, and she was already grateful at the lack of classes. Elise Roswald, you are a terrible student.
She looked at the doors to the boy's dormitories, the mugs of coffee in both her hands giving off their comforting warmth. This wasn't the brown water they called coffee in the cafeteria, this was the real deal, straight from Chiapas, brewed in the pot her room. She'd made friends with one of the janitors whose mother owned a Mexican Restaurant in the Bronx, and he supplied her with it for a reasonable price and some harmless flirting. Well, I guess I forgot to tell Fury about that, she thought as she continued to try and locate Jamie's room.
She hadn't though of this plan until the coffee was brewing this morning, but now it seemed stupidly obvious. Guys were easier to talk to, for her, and she wanted to see what the others thought of this whole train wreck. Normally she'd ask Musaki, but he was notorious for exaggerating the facts and glossing over important parts. Besides, giving him coffee was the worst idea in the world. She supposed she could have asked Noel, but she didn't know enough about him yet.
Jamie was the obvious candidate. He was smart enough to know what was important while cautious enough to not tell everyone what he found out. He was shy around her, but still appeared to want to spend time with her, and that's what sealed the deal. She didn't believe he had a crush on her, but the mix of fear and curiosity was a good one to have in an ally. Besides, when people liked you they were more likely to help you. She'd taken that into account when she'd picked her outfit: A light green peasant-cut shirt and black leggings. Something pretty, that would bring out her eyes and hair without begging for too much attention. She'd done her makeup and hair with the same goal in mind.
Locating the door, she tapped it with her shoe, and waited.
