When I was at my first year at uni and it was my first time living away from home, I used to spend a lot of my days off walking into town and exploring the high street and local area, because I didn't get on well with a lot of my flatmates. I found this very small independent CD shop run by an enthusiastically happy man and I bought Return To Cookie Mountain from him. I remember liking Wolf Like Me and a couple of other songs but finding the album as a whole kinda overbearing, production-wise, like it was sort of muddy and hurt to pick through what was going on. I got into them more when I listened to their albums on better speakers.
I have been following some of you for over two years. (I was trying to find a poem of mine and stumbled on some silly thing from 2012 showing whose blog I had liked the most posts from.) Some spur of the moment decision, prolonged indefinitely, mostly through inertia. And, in most cases, ultimately meaningless, even in the face of such longevity and weirdly long term knowledge of people you'll never meet. The whole thing is really very strange when you think about it.
What a crazy world we live in.
(It's probably no coincidence that each one of the people I've happened to have followed on here long term is an intensely interesting person I would be lucky to know in reality.)
I just bought tickets to see Ought when I'm visiting Caitlyn. That's my favourite new band of 2014, in LA, in six weeks, with the coolest music nerd on the planet. I'm so fucking pumped about this. EVERYBODY LISTEN TO MORE THAN ANY OTHER DAY AND GET PUMPED.
I know that are FB and Instagram friends with me just liked the pic of my new business cards/new job and I gotta say I’m feeling the sense of love and community from y’all.
