So the one I have says copyright 2000? I don’t know if the other version was made before or after. Anyways here’s some of the info. The aim of the game appears to be deciphering other players identities and whether they are good or evil, before eradicating all players on the opposite side. There are eight characters in the game, 5 humans and 3 vampires. Each player controls one character but all 8 take part in the game, even when there are less than 8 players. A character not controlled by a player is considered ‘unowned’. Strongest human is Buffy, the Slayer, followed by Giles, Xander, Willow and Cordelia. The Master is the oldest and strongest vampire, followed by Drusilla and Spike. Unowned characters automatically join combat when it happens.Character cards and colour cards are seperately shuffled and then placed face down together, one character card to one colour card. The colour card corresponds to a coloured playing piece. Each player now chooses a pair of cards.Gameplay: All players roll the (D6) dice and the highest goes first. That player now moves any one playing piece the number of spaces equal to their roll in either direction. Do not change direction mid-turn. You may stop only if you pass through a location tile. If you roll a 6 for your movement, move the black counter one space clockwise through the day/night marker and take a Fate card. Challenges can be issued when you move a playing piece through a location tile containing another playing piece. A challenged player must reveal their colour card to the challenger, if the colour does not match any of the pieces in that location, nothing happens. If the colour does match, the player must show their character card to the challenger. Fate cards can be discarded to allow a player to keep their colour or character secret.Any player whose playing piece is in an area where a challenge has been issued may declare combat. When combat has been declared, you must reveal both colour and character cards. Other players occupying the location may also join the fray, adding their weight to the chosen side. Any unowned character whose colour has been revealed and matches a playing piece on the location tile, has their character revealed.Location tiles have certain effects - for instance no combat is allowed on Neutral Ground at any time, nor at the High School during the day. The Graveyard gives a +2 to Vampires in combat, whereas the Library has a +1 for all humans and a +2 for the Slayer. Add these bonuses, along with any fate cards you wish to play, to your teams value for the combat and compare to the other team. Highest value wins. If the player who declared combat is on the winning side they can choose the combatant they want to eliminate from the game. The character chosen is now dead. If the player that declared combat is on the losing side, that character is now dead! Winning the game is accomplished when the three vampires or five humans are dead, or if it has been established that there are no players left on opposite sides.
