I once had someone tell me how to talk about my close friend's gender identity. Even though I was saying things they approved of and they don't know my friend at all. I think people see something that appears mildly problematic at a distance and want to be that person who gets to drag someone. Like, I think the whole culture came from a good place - not being silent or passive about abuse or discrimination - but now its this weird ass culture?

It very quickly soured and turned into a culture where instead of awareness and positive change being the goal, now it's just fun to get attention for dragging someone, even if you're being a complete fucking twunt to someone you know nothing about.
