4. How easy is it to earn their trust?

It's quite difficult. You need to know her for a certain time and be dependable throughout it. Even then she might not trust you, unless you've helped her out on several occasions and not asked anything in return. Sae isn't very accessible, and generally suspicious of new things.

15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?

Almost always the latter, though when she's focused on, say, tactics, or talking to a close friend, she formulates what she's thinking in a very clear manner. She tends to stutter or choke on words when she talks to strangers or superiors, but expresses her meaning very precisely.

35. How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?

That really depends on how close the friendship is. Generally that's not one of her strengths, though she will suffer Raelric's tech rants and at least be happy that it makes him happy.

39. How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?

Also, not very. Sae thinks very carefully about if she wants to spend time with someone, and a lot of things put her off. She does her best to suppress that during work, though, and sometimes learns about the better sides of people and ends up being friends with them (like with Branthyn, for example.)

42. How badly do they want to reach their end goal?

There's no one end goal for her, but she wants to do good at her job as Vigil tactician, and studies very hard for that.

B. What inspired you to create them?

I wanted a sylvari elementalist, originally. Sae started out looking pretty different, with the spikey face and falling hair and teal glow. I realised I wanted a burnt crisp and changed those things as new faces were released and I worked out her backstory. I'm really happy with how she is now!

Saesol ✴C: Comfort

1. how do they sit in a chair?

At work, perfectly straight, legs crossed and dignified. When extremely tired, and/or off duty? Like a goddamn disaster. What limbs go where? Don’t know, don’t care.

2. in what position do they sleep?

When she goes to bed, curled up into a ball, but she unfurls as she sleeps and wakes up splayed all over the bed, usually sleeping on her back.

3. what is their ideal comfort day?

One spent at home with a good book. Or three. Preferably with Raelric around and in a good mood, so there’s a chance of breakfast in bed.

4. what is their major comfort food? why?

Hot chocolate. She has a hate/love relationship with the winter since she cools down and that’s more than unpleasant, but the rest of the year she’s nearly always too hot. A hot chocolate after coming home through some snow leaves her at the perfect temperature, and feeling normal, not like someone who is nearly literally burning on the inside.

5. who is the best at comforting them when down?

Raelric! He works from home, and thus is almost always around to make Sae some food when she’s not feeling well. He’s talkative where Saesol is reclusive, and it took him a while to learn and be patient until she comes out of her room to tell him what’s up once she’s ready, but that came with time.

Raelric ✴C: Comfort

1. how do they sit in a chair?The harder he’s having to think, the less sense his sitting position makes. Reaching the end of a complicated thesis often happens with Rael upside down in his armchair, legs dangling over the backrest of it.2. in what position do they sleep?

On his side, with one hand under the pillow.

3. what is their ideal comfort day?

One where Sae is home and he can tell her about whatever is going on in his life, be that inventions, matters of the heart or anything else. Just telling her helps clear his head,

4. what is their major comfort food? why?

Pumpkin bread. It’s the first thing he got good at making, and he just loves the season along with the taste and the scent when the bread’s in the oven.

5. who is the best at comforting them when down?

Rael is the kind of person who gets over himself on his own after venting to someone else, which is Saesol 99% of the time. Sae can help beyond that sometimes, her matter-of-fact attitude balances Rael’s overly hopeful, sometimes dramatic character very well.They’re just a great team!

1. What would your OC’s last words be/what are they?

“I can’t believe this…” As much catastrophizing as Sae has done in her head, her own mortality never really occured to her in a way she’s imagined before.

6. What would get your OC to make themselves disappear?

Interpreting this as not suicide but rather absolute reclusion, it’s happened before. Saesol has things she feels she can tell nobody, so she doesn’t until it all festers and she feels she can’t talk to anyone about anything, and at the same time she has to, or it will eat her from the inside. She disappears for days, sometimes weeks, when this happens, and leaves Raelric worried sick.

16. Your OC has exactly 15 minutes to live. What is their last act?

She’d spend at least 5 of them in total shock and realise all the things she’s missed out on thanks to her insecurities and fear. The remaining ten, she’d try and fix what she can. She’d find a witness and tell them all the things she never said to those around her - specificially how grateful she is for everything, and how much she loves her close ones… and that she regrets not being able to show them enough.

33. How does your OC let out anger?

Find a desolate place, burn that shit down. Simple enough. She’s found comfort in seeing plants grow from the ash later.

11. Howoften do they have nightmares? 

More often than she’d admit, as a result of her bottling everything up instead of dealing with it. The fear of her bad dreams makes her very grouchy when tired, which more often than not is interpreted by others as childlike stubbornness. Sleeping next to someone she trusts usually makes the nightmares less torturous, though.

21. Dothey lash out when hurt? 

First, she goes even more quiet than usual and isolates herself. Anyone who then disturbs her by invading her space and/or pushing her to speak her feelings risks getting lashed out on as she tries to push them away, often with total disregard for the other’s feelings - she regrets it right after, even if she won’t admit it to most people.

33. Dothey ever take a “mental health day” when they’re feeling down?

While on duty practically never, only if Raelric makes her. If she’s at home when a wave hits her, she’ll stay in bed as much as possible and read nonstop, trying to hide from the world.

41. Howdo they pick themselves up on a bad day?

Work, work, work. Whatever there can be done around Vigil Keep, Saesol finds it and gets it done. When there’s nothing left, she’s been known to sort through the entire library, even when it’s already perfectly organized. Keeping busy often is the one thing standing between her and a full breakdown.When she and Raelric are at home at the same time, he’ll stop her manic reorganizing and calm her down with sweets and stories and building them a pillowfort.
