Saeyoung Week - Day 1: Secret
I’m honestly always late to the party for these things. I doubt I’ll get em all by the 18th but it’s still inspiring and fun~ @saeyoungweek
This took longer than intended so excuse me--it’s my bedtime now.

She had never thought of herself as anything more than just an average girl. An average girl with average looks, who had achieved average things. She was of a typical height with the most common hair and eye colors.
She didn't necessarily see this as a bad thing. Her averageness allowed her to blend in when she needed and she could still stand out if she had to. Up until the day she had met him, her life had been just that. Average. That was ok, but sometimes she wished she was a little more extraordinarily.
He was anything but average. His life was strange. He was strange. Everything about him was abnormal. His sense of humor, his childhood, his job, even his hair - as bright as stop sign. He was extraordinary.
He didn't see this as a good thing. His circumstances, the hand he had been dealt made it so he had no choice but to blend in but it was hard when your very person was seemingly made to stand out. He got by, but he often wished his life was a lot more normal.
Unfortunately the very things that made him remarkable made it so he couldn't afford to think like that. Until he met her.
Nothing in her background check would have seemed outstanding to anyone else. But to him, her history was unimaginable. She was the definition of a good girl, a genuinely honest person.
She cared. God she cared so much. About people and animals and kids and especially the RFA - almost instantly. She was incredible. She cared about him.
She laughed at his jokes, at his sense of humor that none of the few friends he could get away with having had ever understood. She seemed to pick up on the underlying tones of struggle underneath those jokes. She asked if he was ok and she meant it. He knew she meant it and that's why he had to stay away. He couldn't corrupt all that bright, beautiful light with his weird, simply unhealthy life and history. He was a liability she didn't need. He told her she was a liability he didn't need. But God, did he want her, needed her really but he knew he didn't deserve her.
She was a nice, normal girl. She deserved a nice normal person to spend her life with, not a wild card like him. It was simple logic. They didn't make sense together. So why couldn't he stop thinking about her? His head was malfunctioning, his emotions wouldn't listen to him. It was bothersome at best, and deadly at worst. Even worse, deadly to her. He couldn't have that. Anything but that. So he had to shut off his heart, if it was the last thing he ever did.
There was of course, a flaw in his logic. A few. The first flaw was that emotions do not listen to logic. And the second was that she had a choice too. She wasn't too apt to let him forget that either. God she was so strong.
Eventually he learned that between her love and his emotions - his logic never stood a chance. The moment he accepted that his universe exploded into a new existence. She gave him a new life, a real life. She would of course, take no credit for this. Telling him he did all the work, and that all she did was cheer him on. She doesn't understand that's exactly why it was her that put all the stars in his sky. Her steadfast support and pure honesty changed his entire world.
--
Now, he watches her as she sleeps soundly in his bed, their bed, in his arms and it's the most normal thing he can think of. Just a man and his wife and the prospect of pancakes in their near future. She never saw her normal life as anything special but it was exactly that normalcy he had needed all along.
Day 5: AU @saeyoungweek
Persona 5 AU!!! They’re here to steal your hearts! (I like the idea of Yoosung as Ryuji for some reason...)
