Showering skin to skin with them, feeling the steam rise and the warmth of their body against yours as you bathe, turning around to see each other and laughing at how ridiculous you look with soap in your hair and water beading on your chests.
But they look so goddamn beautiful like this. There's something about the proximity and the intimacy and the sheer rawness both physically and emotionally that brings you to tears as you brush wet hair out of their face. You trust them so much. There isn't anyone else in the world you'd do this with. It's a damn shower and yet it's so much more than that. It's safety, feeling like you can let go of your breath and relax your shoulders with them.
You look deeper into their eyes, your heart swelling every time you see them, your hands holding onto their hips and bringing them closer towards you -hearing them gasp as they feel your heartbeat from how close their chest is pressed to yours- before you murmur "you're beautiful . . ." You press kisses to their wet, warm, lavender-scented skin until your tears mix with the water running down their body. "I love you, i love you, i love you, i love you", you repeat over and over as their surprised gape stretches into a smile.
You can't tell if its the shower above you or if its your own tears runnning down your face at this point, but you don't really care either because you're so grateful to be alive with them.
