Malik is a part of an underground organization of assassins that are rivals to the Sham-lash. One mission had them taking out a corrupt target that was trying to conquer a dungeon. In the chaos that ensued Malik lost a brother and an arm while Alistair somehow managed to be chosen as the rightful conqueror in the treasury room after they had finally dispatched their target.

He was more than a bit bitter about the outcome.

I'm gonna be honest here and say my interest in abe sapien literally started from the fact that i thought he was the prettiest god damned character i'd ever seen, and from then on it was just that he was probably the character in the mignolaverse i could most identify with, as i too am an angsty frog man

Role: Knowledge Broker and Fence

Malik was once a former licensed assassin who’s feats were heavily used in the past. However, a botched assignment ended up costing Malik his arm. Refusing to replace it with a prosthetic, Malik retired from the assassination business and instead used his acquired wealth to broker both knowledge and illicit goods. Central notes that his knowledge is quite handy, especially in the Middle East. Many a lucrative contract couldn’t have been done without Malik’s aid.

He does, however, seem to hold a grudge towards a certain licensed assassin. Neither party has been inclined to remark why.
