Today is the last day of Thingyan, Myanmar’s New Year — a time when families gather, share meals, and celebrate renewal.

But for over 4,000 Women Deprived of Liberty (WDLs), there are no reunions.

Many are mothers, some are pregnant, some are raising newborns behind bars.

As of late 2024:

🔒 4,132 women remain in detention

👩‍👧 35 mothers with children and 7 pregnant women are imprisoned

⚖️ 1,661 women have been sentenced — 16 to death, 59 to life

⛓️ Dozens face solitary confinement, abuse, and sexual violence

💔 This is not justice. This is cruelty.

Let this new year remind us: There is no peace while our sisters are behind bars.

📢 We demand their immediate release.
