my quidditch babies and their player cards. Better get Maeve’s quick, she’s gonna be famous one day 🐍🦁
I approached this more like ‘if Maeve was a Pokemon’ tbh 🤣(a fire/fighting type for anyone wondering, I actually have a whole yap about that here) but was fun! What she lacks in magical ability and intelligence, she more than makes up for in physical strength and speed. And maybe I went overboard with editing… is there such a thing?
Anywho, yap below the cut ⬇️
JARVIS “SKULL” WANG — SLYTHERIN BEATER
(belongs to @soapallo and Jarvis art is by them)
“Born in Britain under a Chinese and Japanese household, Wang’s playstyle mixes both Eastern roots and sheer Hogwarts’ brutality.
He chooses not to focus on speed, but rather a direct and aggressive approach; to strike the Bludger so hard and so far that the opposing team aren’t sure what has even hit them before the pain starts in full.
The nickname “Skull” invokes fear when perhaps it shouldn’t. While it may seem intimidating at first, it’s actually derived from his Muggle upbringing in which he received too many baseballs and kicks to the head without ever suffering a concussion.
Some argue this makes him a better Beater, when credit should perhaps also go to years of training in the martial arts. Not well known by others except die-hard fans, Wang’s training in both kung-fu and wushu allow him to maintain remarkable balance on the broom whilst delivering crushing blows to his opponents that have been described by eye-witnesses as “cannonballs of mass destruction.”
Needless to say, “Skull’s” legacy will live on for years to come in Slytherin House.”
ROBYN "WOLF OF RAVENCLAW" LEUTTON - RAVENCLAW CHASER
(belongs to @wolfwaill , art is by them)
"Robyn Leutton, where do we start?
Perhaps with that surname. While he may be descended from pureblood nobility, Leutton was raised with a Muggle influence. By two servants in Blackpool, no less.
However, this somewhat rough upbringing hasn't hindered him at all, leading Leutton to become perhaps one of the best Chasers Ravenclaw has ever seen.
Although he may come across as quiet and reserved at first, his actions on the pitch are far from. He manoeuvres the broom in such a way that he has been described to swoop down in order to steal the Quaffle from his opponents in a 'hawk-like’ fashion.
He enjoys the thrill of being part of a team, and his ability to co-ordinate with his fellow Chasers and assist with scoring should be studied.
Like any good Eagle, his landings are terrible. Leutton never seems to want to touch the ground."
...and they were besties
lmfao, lil palette cleanser with something stupid. I've loved writing Garreth and Maeve besties so far and can't wait to do more! i imagine its just them constantly enabling each other to do the dumbest stuff
SOREN “THE SILVER MENACE” FALKNER — HUFFLEPUFF CHASER
(belongs to @stein0806, art is by them)
“Despite being born in a small town in Northern England to Muggle parents, Falkner naturally takes to a broomstick.
Perhaps expected given his upbringing, for his family often engaged in the Muggle hobbies of hunting and falconry. It should be noted too, Falkner’s corporeal Patronus takes the form of a falcon. It seems he was always destined for the skies.
It may surprise fans to know Falkner had a rare case of magical discovery, only joining Hogwarts at 15. Though, this has never hindered him in the slightest, far from it.
Those lucky enough to view a match of his will remark he plays the game with a passion you can’t look away from. Dating moves and darting ventures, Falkner focuses on scoring so much, a Snitch Capture by the other team would be redundant.
Several sources do report Falkner is extremely competitive and one should not like to be around him if he has somehow lost a match.”
HARVEY “THE ACE” LAWAI — GRYFFINDOR SEEKER
(belongs to @pierrot-dokki, art is by @stein0806)
“Harvey “The Ace” Lawai is often referred to as a ‘natural on a broomstick’. Growing up in a predominantly wizarding village just outside of London, Lawai learnt to fly as soon as he could walk. His love for the sport only then continued to grow in frequent backgarden games with his sister (one Diana Lawai).
Some say he chose the role of Seeker, others say it chose him. It suits who he is at his core. He enjoys the prestige, the ability to move fast and make bold decisions.
Some argue the Seeker can be idle, but Lawai proves it’s anything but. His lightning fast reflexes allow him to be one step ahead of his opponents in order to capture the Snitch swiftly.
In his time at Hogwarts, the Gryffindor team managed to secure the Quidditch Cup every single year. Lawai currently holds the Hogwarts’ record for Snitch captures by a student.”
RADIANT “RED QUEEN” GLASSPETAL — GRYFFINDOR CHASER
(belongs to @amethystandemma, art by @/readiert on instagram)
“Growing up near Devon, surrounded by the many branches of her extended family, Glasspetal enjoyed the considerable advantage of early exposure to Quidditch. Indeed, the sport appears to run strongly within her immediate household, with both brothers (Zachary Glasspetal and Arthur Glasspetal) also occupying the position of Chaser during their respective school careers.
So some could say she learnt to play as a team for childhood, a playstyle and strategy she takes into later life. On the pitch, some have described her as “fluid”, knowing exactly how to read the minds, anticipate moves of her fellow Chasers and work as a well-oiled unit.
In interviews, Glasspetal has repeatedly emphasised the importance of teamwork, maintaining that players preoccupied with personal acclaim rarely win games.
Reports do note, however, that Glasspetal is occasionally prone to distraction during matches. Her well-documented commitment to fostering close team bonds has, in at least one instance, resulted in a personal attachment to her captain (Oliver Wood). She stated in an interview with ‘Seekers Weekly’ that this was not the teamwork she insisted upon and players do not need to follow that particular strategy to win.
When she’s not playing, Glasspetal is known to spend her time exploring the Highlands, enjoying both wizarding and muggle music, and persistently irritating her favourite cousin, Percy Weasley.”
