Shinetail mentioned!!!!! She's one of my favourites design wise

Can we get some lore about her, please?

Shinetail was one of several elders who took care of Saltburn while there were no queens, but she was the most prominent and the most involved, so Saltburn ended up seeing her as the primary caregiver/mom figure.

She retired relatively early because she had a heart condition (the warrior cats medicine is not advanced enough to know this so they just thought she was physically weak and prone to fatigue— which was accepted, no one judged her early retirement) but she had always wanted kits of her own. Flybright, knowing of her frailness, heavily suggested she not even try but she tried anyway (had a few loner flings and eventually asked a marshclan cat to be a donor essentially) but could never actually get pregnant no matter how hard she tried.

which is not to say she didn’t have a fulfilling life being a warrior; she had friends and family and romances but she always wanted kittens. so when she’s retired early and expecting to die without a child, flybright and silverpaw come to her with a freshly-weened and adventurous young thing and ask if she would take care of her, since there are no queens. of course she would accept. the healers ask her to stay quiet about her origins, should saltkit mention existing family members they encouraged shinetail to basically look the other way.

shinetail dies of pneumonia about a month and a half before saltkit becomes and apprentice, and saltkit is obviously devastated. she lost her mother! by this time there’s queens in the nursery but instead of moving in with them, saltkit stays with silversky in the healer’s den until she is apprenticed to rattletail.

Saguaroclan's going on hiatus for a little while! I've run out of a safe backlog of pages and I'm not entirely happy with where the script is at right now, so putting things on pause gives me time to rewrite some stuff and start building up pages again :)
