Set in May 2022, a couple of days after the episode Dark Room. Teddy tries to cheer Sah up after they met their school bully again, but the tables are turned when he reveals something about his own difficult childhood. For Casualty Prompt Month day 16, "Rough".

This is very short, very projecty and not very good. But I've never had the chance to write about my experience as a homeschool survivor with any character other than Teddy. I thought it would be easiest to set this just after Teddy's heart condition storyline, when he isn't speaking to Gaynor and he starts to process how terrible she is.

Title from Olivia Rodrigo's "ballad of a homeschooled girl". Obviously the big TWs here are for Gaynor's child abuse and neglect of Teddy (and the implication of her being controlling to his dad too), but there's also references to Sah's tragic backstory with the bullying and their mum abandoning them to be a young carer for their dad and their mum's transphobia. Also TW for Teddy defending Jan, but Sah recognises this as Stockholm syndrome.
