Summary: Saitama comes home to find Genos after an…odd repair session.
After the initial panic and confusion, the young cyborg coaxes him into a calm discussion about what happened and what the new body means to him.
After a while of letting the idea ruminate, Saitama decides to shove his confusion aside and embrace the new Genos.
The problem? Not everything or everyone is as it seems.
–or–
Genos gets transferred to a female body and Saitama is understanding but Genos isn’t really Genos.

"Would you like for me to start dinner?"
Saitama glanced at over at Genos who was standing sheepishly off to the side. He stared at his roommate a moment before shrugging.
"Nah, Mimic and I went down to the oden shop down the way. They wanted to show off their powers and pretended to be Mumen Rider. Freaked the server out when they swore, though. It was kinda fun."
Genos just let his shoulders slump.
"Of course Sensei. Why did I not think you had already eaten?"
He turned back slowly to the kitchen but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, it's okay. I know it's been a weird and long day. I'm not mad or anything so you don't-"
Genos whipped around. "Not mad?" He shouted, confusion marring his voice. "I went behind your back, used another hero to ask you a question I could have asked myself, and now it seems like I don't believe in you!"
Genos froze with his arms out for a moment then dropped his head in defeat. "I feel like I betrayed your trust."
Saitama just sighed and pulled Genos' hands down from where he had stuck it out to the side.
"It's okay, I promise. I wasn't honest with my feelings, so you had no reason to be honest with me. I was stupid enough to lie about my sexuality to you and never remedy it. Does that mean I betrayed your trust?"
Geno's lips curved into a frown.
"Sensei, staying in the closet because you don't feel comfortable around someone hardly seems like a fitting comparison to someone hiring a shapeshifter to pose as themselves just to determine someone's preference."
The surprise on Saitama's face was almost comical. "Well...that was a bad example wasn't it?"
"Yes Sensei."
"You know that was a rhetorical question, right?"
"Yes, sensei," Genos repeated, a tiny smile twitching on his lips.
Saitama's glare made Genos shrink back a bit.
Seeing the sheepish cyborg's actions, Saitama sighed and gently wrapped him in a hug.
Genos gratefully took the offer and buried his face into Saitama's neck. His chest expanded as he breathed in hard enough to gather a practically stifulling amount of musk though his nasal sensors.
After a few long moments of silence broken only by the familiar whirr of Genos' core and his shuttered breaths, Saitama gently started rubbing his back in an effort to calm his student turned lover.
"Sensei?"
"Hmm?" was Saitama's only response.
"May I take off your hoodie?"
Saitama startled and stopped his ministrations.
"Uhh, this is kind of a weird time. Can you wait until tomorrow or-"
He was interrupted by Genos gently laughing into his shoulder.
"That is not what I meant. I have gotten synthetic tear fluid on your shirt, sensei. I was only trying to prevent the oil from discoloring your favorite garment."
Saitama pulled back and realized that yes, Genos' face was streaked in the clear oily substance that functioned as his tears.
"I didn't mean to make you cry, Gen."
"I know you didn't. I am just so blessed to have such an understanding and compassionate lover."
After gleefully watching Saitama's face turn a light shade of pink, Genos chuckled low in his throat and leaned in closer.
"Of course sensei would be the best lover. It is just one more thing he surpasses all others at."
Pink turned to red and Genos was pleasantly surprised to see it reach all the way to the tips of Saitama's ears.
The bald hero shivered once more and gently pushed Genos back.
"I'm really freaking confused right now. Do you want to...ya know? Or are you just teasing me?"
Genos just shook his head and stroked a hand along the curve of Saitama's chin.
"I am just, as you said, 'messing with you'. It is nice to know I am the only one can truly fluster the strongest man in the world."
Saitama raised his eyebrows then dropped them back down into a furrowed line.
"Damn hormonal teenager. Two can play at this game, though."
He let a slow smile creep across his lips as he paused just long enough to make Genos worry.
"I dunno, Mimic did a pretty good job. it got really bad when she leaned over my lap to reach one of your note books."
"She?" Genos' questioned, his voice low and gravely as he let his lips press into a solid frown. Both the characteristics of his usual threats.
Saitama bit his lip when he realized his mistake. From Genos' expression, playtime was over.
"They, I meant they. It got really confusing for a while there."
He shrunk back when Genos lips curled further into his frown, eyes shadowed by his own hair line. Saitama actually felt afraid for his own life for a moment.
"It was an accident. Uhh, I-"
"I'm messing with you. Again."
Saitama stared blankly at Genos' sudden smile and relaxed posture.
"What?"
Genos relaxed his posture and face, an instantaneous change that made Saitama shiver.
"I know already how accommodating you were to Mimic when you thought they were me and even after you discovered the truth you sought to reaffirm the pronouns you should be using. You are truly amazing sensei."
Saitama's blush was back for a moment before he tried to bury it in Genos' shirt.
"H-how'd you know that?"
"I skimmed the notes Mimic left me between him leaping out the window and Sonic threatening to kill you."
Saitama relaxed and laughed at the mental picture.
"I didn't want to be a dick to the first person who's ever openly supported me. And anyway, it only took a few seconds to ask, it's not like it was a big deal."
Saitama's breath caught when he realized he had said the unspeakable phrase. "Not a big deal." Genos pushed away and Saitama watched as Genos face twisted slightly from surprise to something that could only be described as stubborn.
"It is a big deal, sensei. I'm sure it meant the world to Mimic. From what little I asked and they were comfortable to answer, I learned that they face prejudice even within the association. It took over a month of parading around in dresses and makeup to get officials to change the pronouns in their official bio to gender neutral instead of masculine. "
He paused and clenched his hands hard enough to make the metal groan.
"Don't even get me started on Amai Mask."
Saitama held up a halting hand.
"I'm not going to get you started because you went way overboard already."
Geos dropped his head in shame.
"My apologies Saitama."
The use of his real name sent a warm shiver up his spine and he sighed before pulling Genos into a quick hug.
"It's okay."
"So Mimic uses gender neutral nouns all the time?"
Genos shrugged.
"As far as I can tell, they use any pronouns, but prefer gender neutral ones when it's in writing."
"Hmm..."
As he thought through his next statement Saitama pulled back and subconsciously ghosted a hand over his own chest.
"I can't imagine what it would be like to be able to change yourself into a completely different person just by thinking about it. No painful surgeries, no mental evaluations, no nasty smelling hormone treatments, just blink and suddenly you're the you, you want to be."
Genos hummed his agreement but was immediately drawn to Saitama hand.
"Sensei, did you use your AndroGel properly today?"
Genos just leaned in and kissed the top of his head.
"I wanted to make sure you would remember in my absence. You will only feel worse if you do not use it properly."
Saitama bristled.
"Yeah, but setting up an alarm that only stops if I remove the stupid bottle of testosterone is really unnerving. I get kinda worried that Mumen or King is going to hear it and ask questions."
Genos determined look dropped into that of a scolded puppy.
"Of course sensei. I will dismantle it."
Saitama just shook his head.
"Nah, just set it up so I can turn it on only when you're not here to remind me."
If his posture was anything to go by, Genos was not fond of that idea.
"I am not sure if that is a better solution, but I will find a happy medium later."
Saitama just nodded and stretched.
"Now if you don't mind, I getting tired and I'd really like my pretty little space heater to come to bed and cuddle with me."
While Genos' body hummed after hearing Saitama's odd but endearing nickname, Saitama paused and grimaced.
"I don't know it was up with it, but Mimic is like an ice cube. I swear my apartment dropped a few degrees while he was here."
Genos allowed his euphoric feeling to overshadow his need to explain to Saitama Mimic's shapeshifting (and possibly extraterrestrial) physiology as they cleaned and got out the futons.
By the time all was said and done, the feeling had faded almost entirely. Saitama immediately remedied that by dragging Genos' futon (with Genos on it) closer and wrapping the warming cyborg in a gentle hug.
Genos just chuckled and nudged his core to go a little harder and warm a little faster.
The last thing that filtered through his sleepy haze was a quiet promise that fell from Saitama's lips.
