So time to tell y’all about superhero!Saiki:
superh!Saiki lives in the typical western superhero genre, and he’s basically the most powerful superhero there. When he was about 9 or 10, his powers manifested, and he basically managed to stop all crime in America. However, being a child superhero with worshiping fans and basically being seen as a God isn’t really good for your mental health, and he basically just lived in boredom for years, doing nothing yet still being praised for it.
Kusuke didn’t want to see Saiki sad (they have a healthier relationship than canon) so he decided to become a villain, however, this still didn’t help much. When he was 19, he finally decided he had enough, and disappeared from the world, using mind control to convince everyone he looks like someone else. (Kusuke still keeps the villain thing up though, he thinks its fun)
Saiki ends up working at a newspaper company (in New York of course lol ) in the writing department, with Saiko, Aiura, Toritsuka, Nendou, Satou and others. turns out, Nendou looks exactly like how Saiki mind controlled everyone into thinking him as a superhero looks like, so everyone half-thinks Nendou is secretly Absolute (Saiki’s hero name). Nendou sometimes models if they need a photo of Absolute.
Aiura and Toritsuka still have their powers, Toritsuka found out through ghosts as usual, but Aiura realized Saiki was being suspicious, and Saiki had to reveal himself to her to stop her from publishing an article about it.
Saiki might have a TINY crush on Satou, but is holding himself back because he feels he can’t have any real relationships, since then he’d have to reveal he’s Absolute, and be worshiped again.
Kuboyasu is a superhero that doesn’t have any superpowers, and lives with his roommate Kaidou. With a series of mishaps, he has to pretend to date Saiko to hide his identity from kaidou (yes it ends with them real dating)
kaidou is actually a real powerful superhero, but everyone thinks he’s joking when he says stuff like “Just found the new hideout from the dark reunion is here in New York, so I’ll be going out for a while :) “
The newspaper company they’re working for is run by Saiko’s father, and Saiko has daddy issues
expanding on that: Saiko’s dad is like a politician or something, so he had to (and still has to) go along with a lot of PR stunts. He even had to date Teruhashi for a bit, which is how they became friends, and is why Teruhashi keeps trying to set him up with people.
this au was originally just for a fic for my friend, but its really expanded since then.
