No perpetual motion machine breaking.
Ford goes to college to get more knowledge, Stan stays at home, left all alone.
October Challenge #9 "The Silence After"
"Give us one good reason why we shouldn't take him with us," the nymph behind Stan sneers. Her nails dig into his shoulders, and her other two sisters are holding either arm with inhuman strength.
"Look, ladies," Stan starts with a nervous chuckle, "Not that you ain't gorgeous, but you don't really want-" but he is cut off with a strangled sound as flowers poof into existence in his mouth, acting as a gag and preventing him from continuing to speak.
"We didn't ask you," the nymph says sharply, then once more looks at you with feral intensity. "Now. Why do you think you can tell us what to do with our rightfully captured prey?"
"I-" you start, "He... he means a lot to a lot of people! He's a brother and an uncle and a mentor and explorer... and really brings some color to the town-"
"You have said many words, but did not answer our question," the head nymph interrupts. "What gives you the right?"
"He's... he's my boss..." you say helplessly. "Er... my boss' boss..."
The two nymphs holding Stan's arms titter in mocking laughter, and the head nymph looks incredibly unimpressed. She begins some sort of song in a language you don't recognize, and the nymphs slowly sinking back into the trees, bringing Stan with them.
Stan looks at you with panic and hope in his face, and you know there's only one more thing you can do, even if you'll never hear the end of it.
I saved this comic as “Sailbrough”
October Challenge # 20 "Ashes and Smoke"
It had been a long, awful day. And to make it even worse, there wouldn't be any video chat with Stan to look forward to tonight. He had told you a few days ago he and Ford would have to be radio silent for the next week. Although you wanted to be brave and supportive, you were privately very annoyed, especially on days like today. So now, all you want to do is immediately get into your pajamas, heat up some leftovers, and climb into bed.
The sight of your door is a welcome one, and you shuffle up to it, your house key already extended to unlock the door. You insert the key into the lock and turn it-
But it doesn't turn.
It doesn't turn because it is already unlocked.
You sigh to yourself. You know you were in a hurry that morning, but it still was a weird mistake to make. And you start to feel worried as you think of who- or what- could have taken advantage of the open door.
Of course you'd have to worry about something stupid like this after such an exhausting day. Why couldn't you-
You stop dead at the sight of the kitchen.
It is a mess. You count at least three bowls with who-knows-what in them scattered on the counters, spices, onions, eggshells... your brain stops processing everything it's seeing, and instead telegraphs a very important realization.
Someone had been in your house. And worse yet, they could still be here.
Sailor Stan part 3
I was going to make Eddie the other cat but then I was like ‘no. no this is way funnier’
October Challenge #22 "Magic"
You don't think you have ever felt so alive.
You are standing at the bow of the Stan O'War II as it sails out into open water. The sound of the boat racing through the water, the sight of the big blue ocean, the smell of diesel and salt water, and the wind blowing your hair back all combines to make you feel so full of happiness you think you could fly. You can't help but laugh and spread out your arms, as if trying to embrace everything about the moment and hold it forever.
You hear a chuckle behind you and turn to see Stan looking at you with a giant smile on his face. "What?" you ask.
"Nothin', he says, a fond look in his eye. "You just seem to be havin' a real good time."
You give him a giant grin. "How can't I? This is pure magic!"
He walks over to stand next to you, and takes a deep breath, his nose redder than usual from the wind, and closes his eyes as he finds your hand to hold it in his. "It sure is," he murmurs. You move closer and use your other hand to hold his arm, snuggling closer to him and putting your head on his shoulder in contentment.
"Do you ever get tired of it?" you ask, voice still in awe.
You feel him turn slightly, and he kisses you on the top of your head, bringing you in with his other arm. "Nah," he answers.
"I don't think I could ever be happier," you sigh.
"Heh, is that a challenge?" Stan asks, looking at you with a gleam in his eye.
"What do you me-" but he already has you in a kiss. His calloused hands are on your cheeks, guiding you, and your arms quickly wrap around him and clutch onto the back of his sea coat as if you are holding on for dear life while he deepens the kiss.
When you are done, there is this warm glow inside of you that, combined with the excitement of sailing, makes you wonder if you could shoot golden sparks from your fingertips.
"Well, toots?" he asks in a low voice, his hands still cupping your face and one of his thumbs gently caressing your cheek. "Could you get happier?"
You take a big breath and smile up at him. "Yes," you answer. "But I think we need to try again, just to make sure."
His grin grows as he looks at you, and he shrugs. "OK-" he barely gets out before your bring him in for another magical kiss.
Promptober #29: "Begin Again"
You've lost count of the times you've stood on this marina. It's been hot, cold, rainy, sunny... you've even been here a couple of times at night. You don't even have to use your GPS to get here anymore, and know where there is always parking, where to get the cheapest gas, and already have a favorite spot to grab a bite to eat.
Sometimes the marina is a hated sight, but sometimes, like today, it's your favorite place in the world.
Because today, Stan is coming home.
He and his brother take several trips throughout the year to sail around the world, finding anomalies, cursed treasure, and who knows what else. Stan has told you it had been their dream since childhood, and you always feel warm inside when you hear him talk about their adventures and how much they rely on each other. You know they are doing good for the world and know it makes Stan happy, but saying goodbye never gets easier.
Of course, that makes welcoming him back even better.
You look up when you hear that familiar gruff voice call your name, and you race towards Stan's open arms, nearly knocking him over. He lets out a booming laugh- your favorite sound on earth- then brings you in to a deep kiss full of relief, happiness, and love.
You greet his brother with a happy hug, and before you know it you've all made it home. You know the whole cycle of Stan leaving, you missing him, and him coming back will begin again, but right now you savor every moment in his arms.
